Old Enough To Remember?

We had one of those when I was a kid ... ;)
Space age... ;)

Here "the thing" from my childhood, inclusive the suitcase and everything:

only that ours still had the b/w textile-covered cable with a switch in the device sided plug...
I also still remember the stench that decades old fabric dust-bag emitted once the motor had warmed up... :roflmao:

Went to a class on showing Rainbow Vacuum cleaners. The idea was, you show the product and the salesman showed up later. If he sold it, you got paid.
Didn't make it through lunch break

A few years back..... I worked for a data storage and CD library company for about six months.... this was before it was called NAS.....

I visited Leeds University who had a tape back up and recovery library that had more data tapes than I had ever seen in a tower storage system with a robotic picking arm that would fetch the tape and load it for a restore....

At that time NASA had the biggest back up system on the planet, or so I was told, that was I believe a one petabyte storage system.... it was apparently physically rather large....

Now I have two 256Gb micros SD cards for a dash cam and a camera..... and my laptop has a 1Tb SSD and 32GB memory.....

My first PC had 1Mb RAM and a 42MB HDD..... how things have moved on!

I still occasionally find a few floppy disks in a drawer..... no way to see what's on the things though!

My Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop came with those nifty items

I have that exact same device.... somewhere..... it was packed away when we moved house six years ago...... not been seen since!

Also have a CDR/W drive somewhere, probably hiding with the other drive.....
