Yesterday morning, in the predawn darkness, I went out for my 3-mile run. My left foot caught a slight rise on the pavement, and down I went. Hard. I put my arms out to save my head, and my hands paid the price. It was brutal.
Lost skin on the right arm, and the right hand is swollen.
Lost skin on the top of the left hand, and three swollen fingers. Both hands are sore and stiff, and I'm unable to do much. Don't think anything is broken. I still move them, and no funny bends.
I have a sore right rib; I can get up and down, but it's painful. If it were broken, I'd know it = immobile.
Throughout my years of playing football, firefighting, and riding, I have never been injured. I've just turned 70, so this is new to me.
Noway I can ride right now, and it already bothers me. I had a planned trip up the East Coast and home via the Blue Ridge, but now I'm unsure. I've been riding since I was 14 and have never been on injured reserve. Being unable to ride is bothering me, and it's only been 36 hours.
