This is my 1990 Miata I recently brought home. It was a one owner car with service records back to 2012. The cosmetics are rough but mechanically it is sound and passed a pre-purchase inspection by a Miata fanatic. Like an old machine of any kind I set out to replace the fluids. The oil change went fine, but removing the thermostat housing the two steel bolts in the aluminum turned had turned to cheese but I have at least 3/8 of an inch of the remainder of the bolt sticking out. Oh the joys inherent in working on old stuff. The bolts have been soaking about 24 hours in penetrating solvent. I think I’ll wait until tomorrow to try and get them out.IMG_5981.jpegIMG_5986.jpeg

Congratulations on your new purchase - looks like it should keep you busy for a while.

When I was in my late teens fresh with my new driving license, I could only afford to spend $200 - $300 on a car. I fancied English sports cars back then. My first purchase was an Austin Healey 100/6, followed by several other Healey's and MGs. I spent as much time working on them as I did driving them. I learned a lot about mechanical and body repair via those cars, which is why I pretty much let the dealers/certified techs do most of the work now :)

Thanks Dave! Looks like a nice project to work on during those cold Florida winters...

I regretted selling it so found a guy in Alabama selling another '12 PRHT very cheap so grabbed it up and put some work into it...

A couple years after covid the Miata used prices spiked and I sold this to a guy that has 5 Miatas in his family and he'd just totaled his '12 PRHT.. so I sold to him and overall made a small profit, that will never happen again.

I do wish I had a 3 car garage or I would have kept that one.. but decided 2 bikes was better than 2 cars in the garage... :04biker:

You remind me of my favorite bumper sticker ever, on a Jag: All pieces falling off this car are of the finest British manufacture.

They have spiked again at least NAs and NBs. A friend of mine just sold his ‘93 yellow on BaT for $21,000.

I’ve got a new set of struts for your NA that you can have for the price of shipping. I also have the add on rear factory body brace as well as the original factory radio/CD player setup. I owned a ‘90 for years. Loved that car.

I sure will take you up on those!
