Where did you ride today?

Too busy with family to get out Christmas day. And snow predicted this weekend. So went for a ride today. 32 miles round trip. Temps stayed just over 42*F.
Will try to get out Monday again but that depends if and how much snow we get over the next 2 days. I do think I'll be able to do a New Year's Day ride for the first time in a long time. But that's for "next" year... :giggle-2x:

edit: Also, first ride with the new Christmas gift... new helmet. White one this time. Had a white one before, then blue, now white again. I didn't install my Cardo until after this ride.

Out around the neighborhood for a couple hours today; had some clear weather and sun! 2C I think the coldest I've had the old XL out in some years; had to throw a little heat on it. These tires are better than I expected on the cold wet pavement but that's about as cold as I'll go again. Gas is definitely not as bad as it used to be for these dual sequential carbs, getting lazy and leaving the bowls full for anything longer than two weeks used to mean fouling you couldn't ride it across the half throttle [second carb opening] without it letting you know. Something's better, I know it ain't me... :oops:

Thanks! The Michelin Road 6 is perfect even on wet and cold asphalt )
P.S. Riding feels great — I’m just trying not to look at the front of the motorcycle - but waiting for a few parts to be delivered and then I’ll be ready for paint spraying.

Good to hear about the Michelin Road 6. We just put them on my son‘s (first bike) ST1300 based on their review for rain. I don’t want him to get caught in the sudden Florida rains without good tires!
 
OK, TODAY was my last ride of 2025.
First time I've every been able to ride on the last day of the year! That I recall at least.
I was thinking today would be a no-ride day after seeing how wet the streets were earlier but the sun was bright and the temps warmed up into the mid 40s F and the streets dried up... almost completely. I mentioned about possibly riding today and my wife said to go for it. So I did. There were a few flow streams across the road in some places but dry enough and warm enough to ride. I rode 41.4 miles per the trip meter. Google Maps showed my route should have been 41.1 miles. Close enough at 0.7% different. Temps stayed around 46*F +/-1*F so nothing for the coldest ride game.

This part of the ride curves slightly to the left and then to the right as seen far in the distance climbing the low hill.

This is coming out of one of the slightly curvy sections. Not really enough to be a twisty road but better than straight.

But, I replaced my crashed and totaled ST-1300 with a Honda Shadow 1100, and
yesterday and today I rode that bike back 500 miles from the seller's home in Pensacola, FL to my place north of Atlanta, GA.

One thing I did on a very straight and level section of county farm road was open the throttle all the way and see where the needle stopped climbing.
It slowed way down after 85, and took forever to get up to 97, but I couldn't get it to go any faster.
That's indicated MPH, and we all know these Honda speedometers are off by something like 5-8%.
So I was probably going 91 or so. That's where my "new" Shadow 1100 tops out.
And that's plenty for me.
I'm more concerned with getting to 80 quickly, not going up from there.

Rode the ST-1300's replacement -- a 2006 HOnda SHadow 1100 V-twin cruiser-- home from the seller's place 500 miles away.
200 miles covered on 12/31 and 300 more on 1-1-2026.

Where? From Gulf Breeze FL (near Pensacola) up to Montgomery, AL.
Overnight at motel.
Then Montgomery to Eufala, to Cuthbert and then Plains, Georgia.
Then north to Atlanta.
 
I got to go out for a ride on the second day of the year!
Was still nice out but also cold. The high temp was supposed to be 30*F but really only made it to 25*F. That's where it stayed for the entire 53 mile ride today.
I tried using my wife's hand heater pods but they are too fat to fit inside my gloves. But they do lay nicely in the handlebar muffs so I set them on max heat. I could feel warmth for a while and then they quit working. Ran outta battery power. I thought they were charged but I guess not. Still the finger tips were not too cold in the muffs. I was thinking of riding farther but the gas gauge started flashing at me so I cut the ride short. The gauge was flashing for 18 miles when I stopped to fill up and there was still a half gallon left in the tank at that point. I calculate I can still get around 40 miles when the gauge starts flashing.
 
Just an observation: traveled by cage today from NC to Hilton Head Island, SC. While on the I95 parking lot, in the rain, a group of 4 bikers made their way past us. Two Goldwings, a Harley, and a silver ST1300! I thought to myself.....man, I wish I was with them on mine (08 Red, the fastest color). I'll just have to be patient until my scheduled trips later this year, first to Ohio, then to upstate NY and VT. Happy New Year everyone, and be safe in 2026.
