I have relatives in Ontario, Canada— specifically Hamilton, Ontario: not too far from Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY.

If I were in the market for a new scoot,
I would probably do a “fly -N- ride” deal.

Anyone know what it would take to get it across the border and registered?
Below are a couple of links for you to peruse:
NHTSA Importing a Vehicle
NHTSA Importation and Certification FAQs
If you read the requirements it sounds really complicated but whenever I have done it it always turned out to be quite easy because they were used vehicles.

Caveat 1: I have only done this with used vehicles that were originally sold in Canada or the US. It is much simpler to import a vehicle in to Canada or the US, as opposed to from other countries, from Canada or the US if it was originally sold in one of these two countries because Canada and the US recognize each others vehicle certifications to a large degree.
Caveat 2: None the ones that I imported in to either country had been modified in any significant way that affected their compliance to the original certification.
Caveat 3: I have not done this for many years so I have no idea what has changed.

I once helped an acquaintance in Europe buy and import an older American V8 land yacht— a mid-1970s Chrysler of some sort. Anyhow it was a little bit of a process but it wasn’t bad on my end. Just a couple of forms to fill out, call the shipping company, make sure it’s got barely enough gas to drive itself up the ramp onto the boat that’s going to take it to Europe… (Full fuel tanks not allowed )…that’s all.

Yes it is in very good mechanical condition and runs as it should. Tires should last another 3000 km.
You already have a '99? Adding to the fleet or want to stock up on lots of parts?

Just check with CBP website to ensure you have all documents completed before making the move.
Personally I would trailer it in case there are any snags at the border.
Bruce. I forget. Does that midel year have klms and miles on the speedo?
