I have 93' ST1100 and I want to replace tail/brake bulbs with flashing LED bulbs, but I don't see how the cover is fastened on. Need instructions from one of you master mechanics.

Took the seat off and this is what it looked like before and after I started ripping out wires. It had those LED lights all underneath it. I believe they were those Joe Flordia lights.
Now back to the tail lites. there is a cover behind the bulbs that I can't remove, there were two screw below the license plate that went into the bottom of the cover that I removed but still can't remove the cover.
It was time to feed the dogs so I quit for the day.

This, just like tail light bulbs in an older car. You can swap the indicators to LED as well, but you just need an LED flasher which can be obtained online (like superbrightLEDs.com- that’s where I got mine).
My turn singnals flash four times when the brakes are applied, if you are turning and using a turn signal they don't both flash. What I'm doing ( if I ever get the cover off) is replacing the brake bulbs with LEDs that will flash when the brakes are applied, the bulbs are kind of spendy, $29.50 apiece.

Squeeze the two side flaps inward towards each other, and the flap will fold down.

These pics are from when I added the trailer wiring to my '01.

Note in the first pic the side flap with two uneven "prongs" on the far right side, under the threaded hole and the silver nut, which is the same flap that is pushed towards the middle of the bike, under the red wires on the far left edge in the second pic.

The other side of this compartment has the same kind of flap; if you pull both side flaps toward each other to the middle, then the rear part of the flap can tilt forward and down, exposing the rear bulb sockets and their wiring.
