I welded a few angle brackets to an old ATV rack and mounted an ATV lounge. Besides the storage I can lounge on the armrests going down the road.

It's mostly empty thanks to the saddlebags. I usually get 35-40 mpg mostly thanks to my 350 lbs. You have me worried now because I do pile about 80lbs on for camping but I tie the front down to the Passenger peg so it's not all trying to go backwardsInteresting out of the big thinking. That must be a drain on the fuel efficiency.
There is a fair chance that that added stress will crack the rear sub-frame. This is not uncommon on ST1100's that carry a top case. I no longer have an ST1100 but someone on here can post a photo showing you where the sub-frame needs to be reinforced.
