G'Day...

8°/13°C @ 65% RH, mostly sunny... 🌤️

got up zis morning, gulped my first mug ☕ and...

... the forum is dead, long live the forum... 🤯

and that on an empty stomach...

ze GF off to the office (in da car), me facing another Suzuki session in the shed today... replacing the alternator... 🙄
should at least sweep a few bucks into my pocket...

which actually raises the next topic...
when to retire?
2027, 2030 or 2033... 🤔
next year seems attractive though...
more nett income then my last employment, plus I'm yet still active enough to actually do things, enjoy riding, etc...
whilst in 2033 I might already be lame and too old to appreciate having all the cash at hand...
Well, I'll have till next summer to decide...

Anyhoo, have a spooktacular day! 👻 😎

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the brew-up, Martin. Retire as soon as possible.

It's 50°F and clear in Rockville. Later it will still be clear, but the temperature will be 74. Perfect.

I'll be playing goof with three people I know, but none of the others knows anyone else in the group but me.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.

That would be my thought, as well. I did the early retirement thing, and now I couldn't see myself working a full-time job.

It's partly cloudy and 51f/10c, and that will continue as the temperature rises to 66f/19c.
Wind will be 10-20mph.

My PT session went well, yesterday. He cleared up a misconception regarding one exercise and had me pushing to stretch the leg muscles a bit more.
Afterward, I hit the gym to put his instructions to use, as well as a decent upper body session.
I didn't manage to work on the VFR's horn, but DID manage to give both bikes a quick wash.

Today, I'll retrieve Brenda after she drops her car off for a windshield replacement. She got a small nick a week or so ago, and the crack spread to where she needs a new windshield, now.
Afterward, I'll head over to the gym for a while, and maybe walk with the neighbor's dog.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Morning all, and thanks to Martin for getting us started.

@steve3b3 I can't see myself working a full time job either, but here I am. *shrug*

Not much on the books today, other than more not seeing myself doing the stuff I'm still doing. It was a cage day because although it's a warm 11c, it's raining. Sad thing is it's supposed to stop in an hour or so, become sunny, and warm up to 17. I almost said to heck with it and brought the bike anyway, but luckily I didn't as there was an accident on the highway that brought traffic to a crawl or standstill for about 30 minutes. That would have resulted in more than a little bit of wetness.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Obo.

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the start, Martin.

Another perfect day. 47/77 and sunny, but wait…there’s more. Sunday’s prediction is 100% rain, which means we have a chance of seeing a cloud in the distance.

It’s gonna be a great weekend. I get to have candy. I buy Halloween candy, but never have any Trick-or-Treaters, and I can’t see me throwing away a bag of fun-size Snickers. I better buy 2 bags, in case there’s more no-shows than expected.

Gotta run. TGIF

John

We might get 1 or 2 trick-or-treaters at our place. Dark street off of Main, with no sidewalks. Better pickings elsewhere.
I told Brenda that we should buy candy that WE like.

Our proximity as next door neighbors to "the Halloween House" means we'll see 150-300 costume-clad urchins. Added to the decorations, the HH people are known to give full-size candy bars, not those puny little things we dol out.

According to the neighbor, though, this year is his Last Hurrah. He's been kvetching for months (years, actually, come to think of it) about the amount of work it takes to set everything up (he typically spends the entire month of October in the process) and the vast amount of storage space he has dedicated to keeping all the bits of junk on hand for the next year.

We'll see, when push comes to shove, what he actually does in the future. I have my doubts, but it'll be a while before Halloween next falls on a Friday or Saturday.

Thanks Martin for the share.
I'll share my Bkack Rifle as long as I'm here, but when I go to work any leftover... which is RARE (fully brewed, just uncommon to have any left -- it's not steak, y'know) it goes with me.
Yesterday I wrote my post, switched to something else, and came back to find it had disappeared. Couldn't find it ANYwhere, so I just chalked it up ro forgetting to press Send.
I was pi$$ed... and come back this morning to find it had posted
I'd only finished one cup of coffee by that time, but it was a full mug, so I thought I was safe.
Had me cranky all day.
Just more digital weirdness.
I'm ready for the RiderCoach Prep class, but haven't heard back from my friend and RC trainer about riding to together to the range tomorrow. He's not far away, and there is a route down the scenic and curvy backroads we always take to avoid the superstar.
Gonna rain big at the end of the day, but we may have a nice morning.
Sunday should be clear, with rain returning Tuesday.
At least I won't be in the office.
I bought Roz a FitBit a few years ago, but it was too hi- tech for her liking. She never used the dang thing.
So I tried to revive it a few weeks ago, in preparation for this class, as well as track my mileage while walking with Kaiser.
Alas, it would not charge. Took forever to find the charger, then I had to find which model it was - of course it's been discontinued - which i finally did. Because I've never used one.
I bought her another one a couple of years after the first one, but can't find that one or its charger anywhere. Can't remember why I got her a second one, but there was a reason at the time.
Oh well.
I have often wondered how far a RiderCoach walks while teaching a class... I'm guessing about 4 miles?
The standard range is 220x120 feet, there are 14 exercises and 5 skill tests, and we cover the range multiple times for each exercise.
Setting up cones, picking them up after each exercise, and walking back and forth to assist riders or pick up a fallen bike at the other end of the range... it might be 30 miles.
At the end of the weekend, it sure feels like it.
I'm still excited, but I have to finish this day at the office first.
Time to feed some cats, feed the dog, take him for a potty walk, and get on the road.
Have a fine Friday, y'all.

In my second mug of coffee since it seems to sooth a sore throat. Brought back an infection from a recent family gathering. Now my cook has it! Who's going to feed me?
My wife bought a variety pack of Halloween treats with the ones she likes but was disappointed to find less of her favourites and more of the give away ones. And what are they made of? When "milk chocolate" isn't in the ingredients is it a science project like meat and dairy-free pizza?

Giving out weird things is fun. Who else does trick or tater to the incoming candy gobblers?

I mean, it's potato chips without any plastic packaging, added fats, salt etc. And you get way more in one potato than you do in a bag of shrinkflation chips. I remember once opening a bag to find just one potato chip in it. Contacted consumer affairs and was told the box is sold by weight, not the individual bags. Sounds like a load of organic potato fertilizer to me.

Morning all! Wet and overcast here though there is one patch of blue sky. Rained on the way in and looks likely to rain on the way out.

Glasses, plus visor, plus rain/humidity is still giving me fits with foggy vision so when I got to work I purchased a new pinlock compatible visor for my helmet. Hopefully this will allow me to see and ride without having to pop the visor up continually. I have anti fog wipes for my glasses. Until then, I guess I continue to ride by touch :D.

I've heard of this retirement thing unfortunately it's still a ways off. Darn kids and their post secondary edjumications.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning Martin & All from a damp morning in Southern Utah!

Currently it is 58F, up from 38F and heading for 54F(?)... looks like the weather guessers were wrong again! LOL But we have been getting some rain. Not enough to measure yet, but they say it's coming! The winds are blowing, and later from the SE @ 15 to 17mph.

Chris's sister and husband stopped by last night, took us out to dinner and then this morning, him & I were just able to put my FIL's safe in the back of his car, so he can haul down to my FIL. I've had this safe in my safe, right after we got our safe. So, now I have some extra room in my safe for a few things I've wanted to put in it. :run1:

They took off, right after we got the safe in their car. The safe probably weighed more than their little car can handle. So I hope they make it to LA! :eek-2x:

With the wet weather, I won't be going outside to do anything. So who knows what my day will bring!

Chris made scrambled eggs, sausage & toast for us all, for breakfast. Pepsis in reserve for later.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Good morning thanks Martin, retire before you lose your health if you can afford it. One year before I planned to retire I found out I have a nasty blood cancer, has totally messed up my plans for the next few years.
Cloudy 8 C/ 46 F not much warmer for the high. Today agenda, take it easy, Shoulder and foot not hurting finally, yeah! Went for X-rays yesterday of my left foot, doctor figures I broke some bones, but after two weeks of limping around not much else to do about that. Otherwise it will tell me how long to stay off the bike. Well nothing much else, just Y'all have a good weekend G

I've been using an app on my phone called Map My Walk. You might try downloading that or something similar.
I use it to track my walks, both with and without the dog, and it's accurate enough for my needs.
I've also set it up to share data to the fitness app that I've also got.
