That's so similar to how I perceive a number of honorary societies and "professional credential" organizations of which I have been a member: it seemed as if their primary reason for being and motivation is simple self-perpetuation. I'm no longer a member of any of them.

As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a little Pop-Up appeared that said: 'You've got male!'”
