Actually, #3 is the answer theyre looking for, or possibly #2. This puzzle has gotten out of hand, but basically where it is at now is since all tubes are dead ends, the author expects the liquid to run out through the "vent" or gap above tube #3 and run down the outside of the tube and into the cup. Larry mentioned #2 and that is possible if the liquid is running fast enough also. Either way, it's really "grasping". Once this answer has wore out, someone will come up with something more hair-brained, im sure
 
For several years, a man was having an affair with an Italian woman.

On behalf of all American electricians everywhere, I agree with you. I use S1 and S2 bits in my electric screwdriver whenever I can.

S1 bits fit switch and receptacle terminals and mounting screws, and S2 bits fit many breaker and panel terminals and cover screws.

I'll throw in an endorsement on behalf of users of pocket screw joinery. Those square holes in the pocket screw heads are great when closing a joint with my cordless variable-torque drill / driver.
