Tiger 1200!?

Looks like some exciting times ahead regarding new model releases. I was in our local Triumph dealer today lusting after the new Tiger 800 XC when I struck up a bit of a conversation with the dealer. He reckons Triumph will be releasing a Tiger 1200 Adventure bike early next year complete with shaft drive and a long range fuel tank. It'll look very similar to the current Tiger 800.

If it's as tasty as the new Tiger 800 with all those nice Triumph accessories I could be tempted!!! :D

Triumph is being somewhat aggressive in releasing new models. They are also looking at releasing a new 1200 Trophy. This will put the touring back it their sport touring line!

Re: Tiger 1200!?

Triumph as been really aggressive lately, and in my opinion, hitting all the right marks. I have a co-worker who owns a Thruxton and Sprint ST and loves them both. He's ridden the ST throughout half the western states and currently has the ST in a storage unit in the LA area with his eyes on northern Cali, Oregon and Washington. I've always been a sucker for the classic lines of the Bonneville.

The 800 Tiger(s) appear to be a hit and the rumored new Trophy appears to be creating quite a buzz as well. I'm really looking forward to finally seeing some hard press on the Trophy and this new adventure bike.

Also heard rumours that the new Tiger 1200 Adventurer & Trophy will be making an appearance at the International Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy this November. :please1:

A Bonneville was my very first bike. $840 in Lewisham, London, UK in 1970. It took years to switch over from first learning to shift with my right and brake with my left foot. I'm probably not a candidate for this Tiger though. At my age, I'm a pavement only kind of guy.

I'm not a hard core off roader myself but I'm warming to the idea of venturing down the odd bit of good dirt road. I think it'll add an extra dimension to my bike riding. Besides, I know a few guys that own dual sport bikes who never take them off road anyway, they just love the comfort. Our roads down here are no where near as good as yours in the USA. I like the thought of that extra suspension travel soaking up the bumps. ;)

Re: Tiger 1200!?

Been watching this with great interest. However I'm very happy with my 800XC. Hope to test ride the 1200 during bike week in Feb. in Daytona. Hope I don't like it. Can't afford two bikes and I love the one I have. My concerns with the 1200 will be the weight. The 800 is a dream to ride. Hope they have the new Trophy 1200 there too. :drool1:

Cool bike. Never having liked BMW's asymmetrical styling, I especially like the look.

Motorcycle Daily has some details on the Tiger Explorer, Speed Triple S and a Steve McQueen nostalgia model. (Hopefully this time he gets away!)

Re: Triumph's new bikes

Now you're looking at Triumphs?

Honz asked me today what it's going to take to get you to buy a bike from him. I asked if he could get you a pink one.

Nothing on the Trophy yet darn!
Get a load of this!:

"the Tiger Explorer’s best-in-class 950-Watt generator."

That will come in handy for hooking up lots of electricity hungry farkles.
