Morning Martin & All, from sunny Southern Utah!

Currently it is 72F, up from 48F, and heading for 85F. But, later this afternoon, we'll be heading to Las Vegas where the high is expected to be 101F and tomorrow 105F! :redface-2x:

Yesterday I took the :bl13: out in search for WeSTOC tee-shirt quotes. Ouch, I'll check out a couple more before deciding. And then I took the long way home! I got in 34 miles! :)

Today, I'll do a few things around here before packing my suitcase, and then we'll take off at some point. It really doesn't matter, since we are going down to pick up our #4 son at the airport tomorrow morning.
And speaking of Dereck, he found out that he will be sewing on MSgt (Master Sergeant) Article for this years Promotions to MSgt . They give them line numbers and he said his is towards the end of the Promotion Cycle, but that he made it, is the important thing! :hat3:

Boiled eggs, bacon, toast & OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) for along the way to Las Vegas! ;)

Anyone :dr13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

TIL; I was going to commiserate with Keith that at least Iowa is flat but then googled the matter (due diligence don't ya know) and learned that while there are flat sections, Iowa has varied terrain and doesn't even rank in the top ten of flat states.

Nope it ain't flat, a fact that has come as a rude and unwelcome surprise to many an unaware cyclist over the decades. What I have yet to work out, though, is just what kind of slopes to expect: short, steep, and frequent, or gentler but longer? Or some of each? I'll be poring over the terrain profiles on the website, as well as on the routing app I use, to compare the prospective routes against terrain and rides with which I'm familiar.

I discovered this morning that one of the riding days is over 80 miles, with no obvious possibilities to shorten it by taking a less circuitous route. Ruh roh, Raggy, we may have trouble.

Please don't be offended that I don't remember everyone's name.

Mark, Several years ago, my sister from Oz happened to be visiting during my RTE weekend. She insisted putting name tags on everyone that included their screen name, along with their home state. I lost the argument of whether or not grown men would even wear a name tag, so she met everyone with a tag….and made them sigh the guest book!

Now the rest of the story…..After the event, several riders commented what a great idea it was, because although they had often seen everyone before, they had no clue who they were.
