bad day (AKA Monday), Mar 9th, '26...

British Columbia has decided to move to daylight savings time permanently so theoretically this was our last time change. Should be interesting to see how this pans out....
There has been several news stories about that decision which have left me curious about how the decision was made. Every single health expert / sleep expert / researcher that was interviewed stated that going to standard time permanently is the better choice as far as peoples health, sleep patterns, circadian rhythm, etc., goes. I can understand why B.C. would choose to stop the biannual time changes. It does seem strange however that they would ignore the advice of all of the experts, whom I am certain that they consulted at great expense, and choose what those experts consider to be the wrong time standard to adopt permanently.

Morning Martin & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 57F, up from 32F, and heading for 63F. Got a breeze blowing from the S @ 5 to 9 mph, later, the winds will be out of the SW @ 17 to 24mph. Spring weather is expected for the next week or so.

Congrats Chuck! 54, that's great!

Stu, glad the operation is over, and on to the healing!

Yesterday I got a call from my brother, he's in the hospital for some observation. Haven't heard any more, today. :pray1: that it's not serious.

Today I plan to get started on the backyard, to set up for the Greenhouse I bought last month.

Eggs, bacon, toast & OJ for the morning start. Pepsi(s) later.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

There's also 2 other simple fixes:
1. turn the bike upside down so no oil comes out the plug.
2. don't forget the crush washer to begin with.
I'm leaning towards Option #2, which actually is my go-to until this last Saturday...
But I am highly skilled in finding NEW and sometimes creative ways to foul something up.
Sadly, this is the extent of my "creativity."

@Sadlsor You can always replace the drain plug with a Fumoto drain valve, and attach a short hose to the valve. No tools, no crush washer, no dropped plug. I put one on the truck. It’s nice, real nice.
I keep going back to considering this, through several years.
And I keep doing nothing towards that end.

This is the official explanation. Mr. Eby has never let facts, logic or truth get in the way of what he would like to do.

Good evening, Thanks Martin, heal fast Stu, Congratulations Chuck 54 years Way to go! Now to apologize, been distracted by Pancake Breakfast yesterday and then cleaning up after it. This morning Construction crew showed up early to fix window weather stripping. Sun came out this afternoon high hit 7 C but we are cooling down,5 C right now but will get to 0 C by 2 am. Might get some Snow tomorrow morning from 7 am to 10 am , will see.
I feel your pain Sadlsor, can't count how many times that blanking washer falls into the oil catching bucket, and a magnet pickup tool won't pick it up. At least you put the plug back in before putting the oil in. Hopefully I will be able to make the morning coffee club tomorrow. Cheers G

Evidence suggests there are many benefits to ending the seasonal time change, including:
  • more consistency and fewer disruptions to sleep patterns, school schedules, and daily routines
I guess you are right. The above is contrary to the opinion of every sleep/medical expert that I have seen interviewed, including one who stated that he consulted to the B,C. government on this issue.

In summer 2019, the Province conducted a public engagement on time observance that saw participation from a record 223,000 people, with 93% supporting adopting year-round DST. Similarly, across all industry groups and nearly all occupational groups, support for year-round DST observance was higher than 90%.

As for the above statement, reports claim that going to DST permanently was the only option put the public during the consultation. The option of DST or standard time was never offered. I guess if the only possible answer to your question is the one that you want there is a good chance that you will get just that.
