I was able to do about 420 miles yesterday on the Bike Quip shield.
I got the clear standard version.
Delivery and Packaging
The box showed up fairly quickly, within 2 weeks, given it was coming from the UK.
The box looked like it had been hit by a truck... but, the shield was undamaged.
Fit & Finish
The shield fit the bike perfectly and it appears to be of very good quality. It's a bit thicker than the OEM shield.
When you first sit on the bike, you notice the distortion in the shield where the curve starts however, it quickly goes away at speed and after a while you forget it's there.
Cost
Just under $200 shipped to the Dallas, TX area.
Effectiveness vs OEM Laminar Lip combo
The Bike Quip shield has pretty much the identical flip the laminar lip has. I felt like the Bike Quip shield does somethings better than the Laminar lip and likewise, the Laminar lip does somethings better.
The Laminar lip pretty much just affect air at the top of the shield and it's more squared off than the Bike Quip shield, so it affects the air flow with that shape.
The Bike Quip shield is more rounded at the top but it's wider and pushes area out on the sides more than the OEM shield does.
I feel the Bike Quip shield is about 80-90% as effective as the Laminar lip at the air on the top of the shield but does more for air on the side that the OEM shield / Laminar lip combo as they don't address this area at all.
I did notice something strange which I think has more to do with gas, temp or some other issue but I lost 5mpg on this test ride. This included 2 tanks of gas at to separate stations, one in Texas and one in Oklahoma. I also was running with my OEM pipes as I wanted to get a video/sound clip using the OEMs to compare to the Delkevics. I have a hard time thinking putting the OEM pipes on would cause a loss of mileage as I don't remember a jump when I put the Delkevics on.
It wasn't real windy yesterday but it was cold. My temp gauge was at 3 bars so I don't believe it was a t-stat issue.
I am going to put the laminar lip back on for an upcoming trip to see if my mileage jumps up. I'm curious if others w/Bike Quip shield noticed any drop in mileage.
Conclusion
I think this is a great shield and if you don't like the look of the Laminar Lip it will perform almost as well as that option
