DCT question

My 2013 1200X DCT only has a single S mode, but it makes things less complicated for me. Same with traction control: it's on or it's off. I wouldn't know where to start with these rider modes and electronic suspension thingies you find on the likes of a GS, for example.

I expected the V4 and shaft drive combination to feel similar to the ST. It isn't. The engine is feral and you're not cushioned like you are with the ST. The 12X can be quite the hooligan.

I was tempted by the 750X DCT but... a chain drive? I haven't had a chain drive bike since 1980! ;)

Then I’d say you don’t know what you are missing. O and X ring chains aren’t in 1980 anymore. Riding the 750X is quite different I imagine from the 1200, it’s lighter and carries it’s weight so low it feels even lighter. It’s a pony in a stable of horses. Being down 75 - 80 hp or so from the 1200 it’s definitely not hooligan friendly either but one of the fastest guys ever timed across Deals Gap was on his 700X before he traded it for a 750X. I love the things and have had 3 since 2012, two DCT and one manual.

Dave, I know... it was a tongue-in-cheek remark. I love the 750's "frunk" too, I'm quite jealous of that. At 6'3" and 280lbs, though, I felt that the 1200 was a better fit despite its considerable weight (a bit like my own, really).

Another update, turned over 10K on Feb 26

and should turn over 11,000 in the next couple of days. Bike has performed as expected from a Honda ridden all winter as low as 9F and transmission worked perfectly. Thing does feel feather weight lol.
