As some of you know I have a pair of middle of nowhere feed-n-seed elk skin gloves that I just LOVE! Paid $20 for them and have been looking for another pair (both in person and online) ever since with no luck.

They meet all my requirements for a good glove:
Comfort
Warm in winter
Cool in summer
Water resistant
Can take a soaking and remain pliable
Good tactile feel (pick up a dime)
Soft
No irksome seams
Durable
Don't break the bank

Here's an image of them:

Notice the unique set-in forefinger - that's what I love about them. Most other gloves (whether "designed" for motorcycling or not) I've found don't flex enough in the forefinger for all day comfort but this unique design makes these gloves, well, fit like a glove, especially with your hand on the grips. I also like the "key-hole" thumb design as well.

So, after looking for years for the same gloves I finally found them!

I happened across the Glove Lady while riding through Albuquerque, NM and despite my doubts of actually finding the same gloves again, they had them! Elk skin gloves with the set-in forefinger just like the ones I love.

On their webpage they show the gloves by the dozen but sold them to me in pairs. I stocked up on both the regular and the palm patch ones and am very happy. If you call, you can probably get them to sell them to you in pairs, also.

So, if you've been looking for good, inexpensive, elk skin gloves - here's the Glove Lady's contact info:

They're men's sizes and come in 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 (a.k.a. xs, s, m, l, xl).

Cabela's has them. Click on the black gloves and there will be natural skin color as a choice. The deerskins, kangaroo and goatskins are remarkable as well.

Thanks, Raven. Nice review, even answered my question. I need size 13 (or XXXL). So my search goes on. I just went to a Cortech summer weight glove, nice and light, the jury is still out on the whole package.

I would prefer leather, but my size is very hard to come by. I bought my last (2) pair at MC shows (Laughlin and the IMS Phoenix). Both have failed with less than 2 seasons....

Anyway, glad you found what you wanted and wrote a review! Thanks again

I agree on the aerostich, I am on my second pair. After around 100k, the first pair developed a hole, which was probably a bruise in the hide.

+1 aerostich. I'll never wear another glove again. 15,000 miles on current pair

SO comfy.

:bow1:Thanks for the heads-up Raven! I'm going up to ABQ next weekend (Balloon Fiesta and a Journey concert), and I plan to swing by the Glove Lady's place and get a couple of pairs of those elk skin gloves! :hotpepper

Their space is in the industrial area right across the main street from the Balloon Fiesta Park. It's a little hard to find but if you mapquest it, it should be no problem.

The Aerostitch gloves are nice but they don't fit me right. They always bunch up in the palm and I also get a rub spot on my knuckles. That's why I love these no-name gloves. Because of the different design, they don't bunch up or rub when your hand is in the gripped position.

:hat1:Thanks again Raven; but no need to worry, since we have GPS Nav built-in on the car plus a nuvi 660 (which I'm using on the bike for now)! If the address on her website is correct, we'll find her!

I got 3 pair of the Elks for right at $50. They seem to be mostly set up for wholesale (probably to all those feed-n-seeds that are off the beaten track) but they were happy to sell to me as an individual. You'll probably need to give a phone call to place an order.

Just got off the phone to the owner of the company. He could not sell me anything or even give me a price. Seems it is a franchise style company (mobile vans like Snap On Tools) and you have to somehow get hooked up with one of these to purchase anything. Not set up to sell directly. He did take my name and number and said he would get back to me.

Raven, how's that palm patch feature as opposed to the regular ones ? Looks like these are less than half the cost of Aerostich

The palm patch is nice. I use that set on my dualsport and it really cuts down on the vibes.

I'm surprised he couldn't sell directly b/c I was in there in August and they sold to me just fine. I'll follow up and see if I can get more info as well (although I won't have time to do that 'til sometime next week).

Having a real hard time buying a pair of these glove lady elkskin gloves. I've called them twice and was told that one of their dealers would get back to me. Never did. They don't sell from this Albuquerque location. I'm trying one more time today.

I bought a set of insulated elkskin gloves at the Army Navy Surplus store for 13 bucks, noninsulated were 10 IIRC. Seem very comfy and warm, bought a set of of wetsuit type gloves while there, totally waterproof and warm warm warm. Havent tried on the bike yet, due to zero protection factor. My big ol hands wouldnt allow a set of elks of the neoprene..

Re: Elk Skin Gloves [Aerostich Elkskin Ropers]

+1 on the Aerostich elkskin ropers. Just got my third pair. I'm hard on gloves...

Can't comment on the glove Dace is recommending other than to say the lack of a wrist strap/snap is a significant shortcoming, IMNSHO. Gloves can and WILL fly off in a crash if they don't have a decent retention system.

Just my 2 cents, FWIW/YMMV/etc.
