Greetings….. The factory top case mounting plate I recently bought is missing the 4 little spacers (see attached picture). Does anyone happen to know their dimensions so I can try and find suitable replacements? IMG_2266.jpeg

For NT700? I think they have their own site? If no answer, try there?

For NT700?
Confusing indeed...
To me the pic is showing 'some' generic Honda top box carrier... (NT700 kit looks different, providing support for the Hondaline U-lock...)
Honda is using similar plastic carrier plates across a variety of models; the difference is the model specific(!) carrier stay, the metal parts underneath, actually bolted into the bike's sub-frame...
And those vary widely, like bolt length and spacer height, etc... (the ST1100 kit used different ones front & rear to level the stay fully horizontal)

From the top of my head I'd say those shown above are something around 8.5x15x12mm (bore x OD x height) but can't confirm which kit for what model is shown (even tried an image search there...)
As those parts are exposed but out of sight I'd recommend black galvanized as OEM and anti-seize on all threads...

Sorry everyone, it’s for a ST1300 OEM mount.

BTW, I know my avatar shows only a NT700 (which is the source of confusion), but I’m embarrassed to say I’ve tried twice but I can’t figure out how to change it to add my recently acquired ST.

Also……. I haven’t been able to find any instructions online on the exact order/sequence of all the washers, spacers etc. I think I have it figured out, but the one thing I don’t quite get is why there’s only 4 spacers, and not 6.

I just installed a used OEM top box on my ST1300.
I didn’t have the spacers either. I believe the spacers fit between the rack and mounting plate. It is attached with just 4 bolts.
I could not find any diagrams with parts lay out.
Are there any parts diagrams for top box hardware?

The spacers fit here.
I need to replace the temporary bolts I used to mount my plate.
Using a short stack of washers for spacers for now.

The center hole is a bumper stop held in with screw and metal washer.
The outer screws hold the plate ass’y together.
Plastic oval piece is under plastic plate.
Screw, metal washer, rubber washer and fiber washer hold the assembly together.

Hmmmm, maybe I ended up either the wrong washers—the opening on my washers are too narrow to fit over the raised threaded nipples. That leaves the top of my nipples higher (by maybe 3/16”) than the top of the black oval pieces. So that’s where I thought the spacers would go. I guess I just need bigger washers to fill the space.

You didn’t need spacers here?
Have a look at the attached. One is the ST1300 top case installation instructions, the other is a schematic that shows where each part goes and in what order. Maybe they will help you sort it out.
All of these parts have part numbers and many are still available from Honda.

I have seen that and I am sure that it can still be found with a bit of effort. I have a list of some of the part numbers but I don't know how complete it is because I have never checked it since I don't have Honda top case.

I may have a set of instructions and paperwork, give me a bit to find them.

I think that they are there to fill the hole in the alloy of the rear grab rail casting, so that the bolt that passes through them does not put any strain on the casting itself. So they sit slightly thicker than the hole in the casting through which they pass. I cannot be certain but I seem to remember fiddling with spanner, nut, washer and spacer from the underside, and dropping them more than once.

Thanks for the instructions you sent me, Larry. And thanks to everyone else for the help.

It turns out I had the spacers all along. They were already on my bike for the Givi box/adapter plate that came with my bike.

I’ve now got the OEM case firmly mounted to my ST, and its been sitting motionless in my garage for 3 hours now—so obviously I’m good. 🙂

But not to beat a dead horse……

I thought I had it mounted correctly until Igofar sent me the attached instruction sheet. AND IT SHOW 2 ADDITIONAL SPACERS!!!

I assume those spacers are there simply to “level” the box on the mounting plate. And I already did that with some spacers and washers I had laying around. But why aren’t they depicted anywhere else? And they aren’t included in the mounting hardware kit. IMG_2294.jpeg

Does my box “pitch” look about right, or does it need more leveling?

I didn't take mine apart and look but I do seem to recall mine has a stack of washers where that long lowest spacer is shown (your red circles). Seems like the old lost posts on this subject said to install washers there as the spacers never came with a trunk. I remember this because the stack of washer are hard to hold up in there when installing.

FYI the entire rear silver "casting" the trunk sits on and the grab handles is actually plastic. I think those washers transferred the trunk load down to the bike metal frame.
