Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

Have we got a consensus that: 1. FCE may have a problem? 2. The bike may have a problem (air filter, 5 way tee, wiring connections, etc.) 3. When all is "right" the FCE is a improvement.
If the above holds true, have we determined a "diagnostic tree"? This approach would save a lot of Ivan's time, wasted posting "my bike does this", possible misshapes because of sudden throttle response, and maybe wasted $. my.02 willy

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

I just got my call back from Ivan. He spent a good 30 minutes of his time with me discussing his product and how it differs from what DynoJet was doing with the Powercommander. I'm going to go ahead and make the time to install his unit and switch back to the stock FPR before I leave for my two week ride through Canada and then on to this years WeSTOC.

The main thing I miss about my 1100 is the rheostat like feel of the corroborated throttle. Ivan believes his product can correct my 1300 and give me that feeling once again. I'll take the plunge and report back here and on my web site.

Wish me luck! :)

Adam, considering the quality of all the ST 'stuff' on your site, I look forward to seeing your results. I have used quite a bit of info from you in the past and will wait to see how it goes before purchasing. I have no doubt you'll provide some useful data. Oh, and good luck!

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

I just finished installing mine. All that's left to do is put all of the components in place and button it up! Just taking a quick beverage break. The temp is currently at 99.3F!!!

I'll post again with a ride report later this afternoon...

Please reply to the poll in the beginning of this thread with your experience.

So far, mine is working great and I have a big trip coming up so I'll be able to get a better evaluation of it.

Yes, sir! No issues with mine, though I've only put about 400 miles on it thus far. I hope it holds together because I truly enjoy the change it has made in my '06 ST1300A.

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

Well, it did cure the off/on throttle issue that it was supposed to, but it immediately began exhibiting the 3k-5k issue that others have reported, so I guess I'll be shipping mine off for exchange. When I was cruising between 3k-4k as I normally do, it would suddenly loose almost all power. I applied additional throttle, and after a 2-3 second pause, the power came back all at once. A little unnerving to say the least! Within 2 miles from leaving home, I felt the need to find a shaded spot in a parking lot and disconnect it. Fortunately, since it was installed with plug-in connectors, it only took about 10 minutes to have it back to the pre-install state.

I’ll contact Ivan and will post again once I have the replacement installed. I was really wanting this to work because my older son and his fianc? are borrowing my ST for a visit to Knoxville next weekend, which is sure to include runs on the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway, where having the off/on issue resolved really appreciated!

Would it make sense to also try to correlate with year model, as Honda may play around with the FI programming?

Polls can get confusing if too many options are added... so, I try to keep them as simple as possible.

In 2008 the ECU was apparently changed. However, I have a 2008 and the FCE is working and I know there are pre-2008 bikes that have this are it's working.

For now, unless Ivan comes up with different versions for different year bikes, I think it's a simple poll of does it work or doesn't it work.

One thing to be careful of is tapping into the right wires. When I installed mine, I matched the wrong colors for one wire but when I double checked my work I caught that. A couple of those wires are real close in color and you just want to make sure you got the right ones.

Also, to avoid that "stomach sinking" feeling I experienced the moment I turned the key after installing mine and nothing illuminated on the dash, be sure to re-connect BOTH battery cables... :D

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

No FCE for my 2010 ST1300A!

What we did at my shop was install a TurboCity 58psi fuel pressure regulator AND sync the throttle bodies with a professional electronic sync tool.

Spoke with Ivan today and it seems that the unit I returned tested OK but they have a "modified" version that they will be sending me. When I stated that I had lost faith in the product and would rather just have a refund I was told that there are no refunds. :( I guess that's the price you pay for being an early adopter!

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

refunds on electronic equipment are rare, replacement with latest version is the norm. willy

'07 ST???? Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

I have an '07 ST1300 non-ABS, and a FCE sitting on the bench.

Anybody with the 2007 model have results to post, positive/negative???

Much appreciated!

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

I went out yesterday and rode a 50 mile course with Interstate, city roads, twisties, sweepers and just straight section conditions. I concentrated on all parts of the rpm range and all the gears.

The FCE on my 2009 stock ST1300 performs exactly like it is supposed to. I am very glad I installed it.

If things change as I put on more miles or in some specific set of conditions, I will report. So far so good!

Install it quick, you are missing out. I installed the FCE in April in my 2007 ST1300ABS. There are some anomalies in certain RPM range, but nothing that I cannot live with. I think it is because the FCE and the Honda computer fights for control at certain throttle position. Again the better driveabilty and smoothness outweigh the small glitches. Slow maneuvers in parking lots are a breeze now. I would recommend the FCE to anyone who rides the ST in city traffic.

put it on my 07 ST, a week of to and from work, 42 miles one way, all was fine. 150 miles into a 460 one way trip it started acting up, caused the engine to surge a lot, with and without the cruise on. shut the bike off and it quit.... took it off after that, the minor improvements it made, to me, wasn't worth all the hassles...
