Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

I understand how Dan feels. We Brits have the Sale Of Goods Act that says an item must be fit for the purpose for which it was described, or you get refunded - it's the law!

If you are here reading this forum it should be pretty clear to you that buying this product is a gamble. This is a reverse engineered product.

Now if you walk into a bike shop, have an ST, see this device hanging on the wall and buy it, that's a different story.

This isn't an exact science. Dynojet tried to create a product for the ST1300 and failed miserably. They had my bike on a dyno for 8 hours and couldn't figure it out. They just pulled the product from their shelves.

Ivan has been through a couple of design changes and is trying to create a product for us that corrects a problem Honda refuses to acknowledge even exists.

I really feel for the guys who have been through a few iterations and appear to have a bike that this product doesn't fix. For me, my bike is a dream to ride. Too bad it isn't simple to fix them all. :(

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

I'm sitting on the sidelines & watching what y'all post in here. Once it seems like the issues have been worked out, I'll call Ivan about mine. My '06 has run "almost" perfectly with Ivan's FCE, but there have been three occasions when I had to do the flying restart (kill switch off, then on, then restart bike ... all while coasting with the clutch pulled in). BTW, none of my situations included downhill travelling ... was always on near level roadways, and two times were immediately after refueling.

What kind of temps were you riding in?

Yes, perfectly clear. I was merely saying that I sympathised with Dan's opinions about refunds/shipping etc, because we're protected from that sort of problem in the UK.

Warm ... between 80 & 90 degrees with humidity between 60% and 80%. Plus, there's a further build-up of heat soon after shutting down the engine during a fuel stop (no air flow).

Sounds like enough heat to cause the O2 sensor heaters to shut off and cause "issues" with the earlier models. Contact Ivan and let him know what happened. Bet he sends you an updated unit.

Wasn't hot and I wasn't going downhill when mine acted up. Level and about 75degrees.

The latest version hasn't acted up.

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

How many out there have 'the lastest version' and are there any issues.???

I have an older one; I've had no issues, but.. it's not been HOT nor have I been in any mountainous 'long-downhill' areas... Wondering if I should ask for a replacement/upgrade to the latest thing as I fully expect to be in that sort of environment next summer....

I had issues w/o it being hot or going downhill with the earlier version. I have probably 500-800 miles on the latest version with no issues. If you haven't had a problem with the one you have then you probably won't.

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

Pretty sure some ST's never experience the midrange desurge that some of us feel on our stock ST's. Probably a tolerance buildup of related items like fuel pressure, throttle position adjust, MAP and air temp sensors. Some of us got "lucky" at one end of the spectrum, others at the other end.

So for some of us, 30 minutes into the ride under certain nominal conditions the ECU changes fuel mix abruptly and the bike bogs while we twist the throttle to compensate. Or sometimes its 5 minutes into the ride... and sometimes it never happens at all during a ride. Higher altitudes seem to be a common feature when mine acts up the most.

nice...a slightly cheaper paperweight....

"nice...a slightly cheaper paperweight...."

Exactly! Mine is sitting on a shelf in my computer room until spring. I plan to contact Ivan again then to see if the demons have been exercised from it at that time. Too cold to mess with for now.

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

That depends on where you stick it when riding... ;)

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

Do demons need exercise? :shrug2:

No crimping pliers so I still haven't installed mine.

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

Mine is still the best money I've ever spent on my 1300. Too bad it isn't the same for everyone.....

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

Mines been good from the getgo also. Some of the better money spent on the bike.

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

I have been fortunate with mine as well. over 6,000 miles in all kinds of conditions and works like a charm. Best farkle I have put on the bike.:)

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

Mine has worked fantastically. Very pleased. Cooler roads with less grip is actually a very good time to fit it as it provides the rider with much better throttle control at low revs for coping with slippery conditions like we have in the UK at the moment.
