Freezing Tuesday weather and (hot) coffee, 18 November

This what you're using? If so I don't think you needed the tp-link.

That is what I was using. I had the three pucks with one in the office and the wifi was spotty and I had trouble keeping a decent connection. Hence going with the TP-Link. It's a fair haul from the laundry room to the office, opposite ends of a long rectangle rancher, 60+ feet, through a door and around a corner etc. I had contemplated drilling a hole in the wall by the router and running a long ethernet cord the length of the house under the eaves to the office to one of the pucks.

Guess it depends on if it's using a mesh topology vs being a signal booster or extender. Non-mesh setups effectively halve the available bandwidth.
