If you see me silently staring into my cup, I’m not daydreaming...
I’m waiting for the caffeine to upload... :coffee:

G'Day...

13°/18°C, mostly sunny, rain in the afternoon and into the night... ☀️🌤️🌥️🌦️🌧️

unruly night, ze GF had some "fit"... window open... window closed... duvet on... duvet off...
got up the first time around 0400hrs... went back to bed tried to snooze... not much use though... 😖
gave up around 0500hrs and brewed my first cup... :coffee:

office Nescafé as second dosage... ☕

TGIF, gonna head to the shed in the afternoon, swap the license plate over, perform a test ride with the '94...
if that passes (which I'm optimistic on), I'll leave the '00 there for carb overhaul/rebuild and pre-MOT inspections...

IMG_20251023_112542.jpg

ST's don't like to be grounded for longer periods, so the '94 has to get some miles on, gonna be my commuter for a couple of weeks...

weekend at ze GF's place, some garden work, plotting the routes for Sweden, relaxing...

gonna be over in the blink of an eye anyway... 😒

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the coffee Martin.

swap the license plate over,

As fussy as Austria is about other things, it surprises me to learn that you can move a plate between bikes. In Maryland the plate is tied to the VIN, and hence to make, model, model year, color, etc. Any time the vehicle is in contact with officialdom they check to confirm the match.

It's 70°F in Rockville and dark but reportedly clear. Sunny and 96 are expected at the peak. Humid too, I expect.

Probably foolishly and unwisely, I'm on for a round of goof starting about 10:45. Lots of fluids will be consumed, and I may aim shots toward the trees to get some shade.

My computer is failing to connect to the interweb once again. I've already shut down and restarted it, the router, and the router extender to no avail. I'll wait a bit then try all those things again before getting Verizon involved.

But I won't be streaming any television while I wait, except possibly as a test to ascertain whether it is just my desktop or multiple devices that are affected by the outage.

It appears that I have access to devices within the house, just can't get beyond the router to the wider world.

[EDIT: AHA. My VPN has a "kill switch" feature which cuts the computer off from outside contact when it detects something hinky and suspicious. Somehow that got tripped, despite the fact that the system was powered down overnight. Perhaps there was a goon lurking, and tried to get in, when I powered back up this morning. Resetting the kill switch has cleared everything up.]

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

We can run up to 3 vehicles (of the same class) on one license/registration; tax & insurance to be paid for the one with the highest HP rating (or with the largest displacement if its a motorcycle)
The crux: you're not permitted to park a vehicle without license plates on public roads... you'll need a garage space or private property for "storage"...

UK has it even worse, the license plate is issued to a vehicle already upon arrival at the dealer/importer, and will stay with it until scrapping...

They're after you... watch out for black helicopters... ;)

Morning fellas.
Roz has a passion block early this morning, and is not allowed to drive, per the doc. Supposed to help with her disk cushions in L3-L4.
If not for that, I'd be pounding the Snooze button, no doubt.
So, no hubcap for breakfast with the boyz.
I almost messed up already today... saw that only Martin and Keith had posted, and I was about to start tapping thoughts on the little screen, and realized -- What Am I Doing!? Ain't had no coffee yet!
Poured the first cup, and now I'm feeling a lot less dangerous.
"Whew!"
That was a close one!
The bourbon tasting I thought was last night, is actually Monday night.
Good thing I didn't go last nboys.
Hot today, no rain. Summer's here, and lovin' it.
Couple of things to do this weekend, just can't recall, at this moment.
Reckon the coffee hasn't uploaded yet.
Don't let 'em stick a needle in your back today.
EDIT: you stoopit autocorrect!
It's a PAIN block, not a "passion" block!
What a maroon.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.

It's 71f*/21c in MA this morning, heading to 90f/32c.
The mostly cloudy sky will become partly cloudy, later.

We had about a dozen cars at the Club day yesterday and the early end didn't happen. One or two drivers wanted to stay till the bitter end so we did as well. We had two groups of drivers, and no more than 4 cars on track at any one time. Things petered out after lunch, with only one or two cars on-track.
Afterward, we went to a light dinner at the restaurant across the street, and then shopping for a new folding lawn chair that we'll need this weekend.
I got a little packing in, and I'll finish in a bit.

Today, we'll pack Brenda's car and head out to Plattsburgh, NY for our daughter's open house. She and her husband bought thier first home, there, and are celebrating with a family party. Most of the others will be staying at the same campground that their motorhome is parked at.

Have a great day,
Steve

Good morning from the north shore of lake Erie , thanks for the coffee . Cloudy but muggy here today ,lots of rain and thunder activity last night and over the lake was an amazing light show . Going to be around 28 C here today and so far nothing on the schedule but I am sure that will change shortly . Grass will need o be cut soon after all the precipitation . Thinking it would be a good day for a ride someplace for breakfast ,couple hours away . Ride safe and take care EH !

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the cafe Martin. Hope you will enjoy your carburetor kit stuff and swap the license plate this afternoon :p
Here in Minneapolis 58F by later afternoon, and it will warm up to 80F and sunny. And this weekend will be a very nice weather in the 70'sF Happy Friday and weekend to y'all..!

Top 'o the morning, gents.

Currently 53 with a blistering high of 83; all sun, no clouds, little humidity. I'll be riding today to do some more testing of my velocity stacks I printed for the bike (see thread here if not familiar: https://www.st-owners.com/forums/threads/lets-make-some-power-with-mandrake.191793/ ), and then it's off to the start of a two day fun fly at my RC airplane club. We have a fellow coming down from Idaho to put on a night demonstration with his helicopter, so that should be fun to watch. Raffles, burgers 'n dogs, good flying and good people will round out the day. Happy Friday, y0!

G'mornin' from the office! I debated riding in today, but I feebly resigned to driving in the midst of a hot, stormy crawl home thru traffic after work. No thanks. The coffee was excellent as usual, thanks Martin. The extra snark always makes it taste better!

Today will consist of the requisite labor in exchange for dollars, then I will be going through a bunch of stuff I acquired from a friend whose father had passed away a year ago or so. He was a gearhead and wrencher through and through, with a garage and sheds chock full of tools, jars of bolts/screws/nails/rivets...you name it he had it and another! I drove there expecting to pick up a just couple of old mowers, and left with a pickup full of suff including jugs of kerosene, a weed trimmer, chainsaw, cans of carb spray, tap and die sets, and a pop riveter. A lot of it she gave to me, but I still gave her some money. She was just happy to see some of it go away. I was happy to help though I barely made a dent in all of it. Hopefully it'll clean up and sell quickly so it doesn't clutter my garage even more.

Well, enough of my escapades. Back to the grind I go, and not the coffee grind. Take care y'all!

Morning Martin & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 69F, up from 49F and heading for 93F. We have a slight breeze now, and later the winds will be blowing from the WSW @ 15 to 18mph. Threats of a thunderstorm on Sunday. I'll believe it when I see the ground wet! :well1:

I've given up on trying to find a Vendor for the WeSTOC 30 shirts and I'm going to try to work with Vista Print. I've been using them for years for my yearly calendar, and all these other options haven't been options and I got to get this done!

@Mandrake, I'll be up near your area on Saturday (Highland). Too bad I won't have the time to look you up, since it's a zoom up Saturday afternoon, attend a dinner, stay the night in a hotel and zoom back before noon on Sunday! maybe next time.

We'll have some breakfast, once Chris wakes up. Pepsi(s) on the menu for later.

Anyone :bk13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Ah, bummer. Next time for sure. Enjoy your mini-trip!

Good!
I recently inherited this nifty sync tool:

But besides this I'm already so over-equipped and limited on space that I have to decline any more offers... 🤨

Morning all! Beautiful sunny day with a bit of high cloud. 13C now, 21C for a high later. The weekend will be warmer, 27C both days.

The new mattress has been shipped so hopefully will be here some time next week....maybe? My wife would like a new bed, she finds the current one too high. I found a decent set of plans for a simply build on the innerwebs so I am hoping I can convince to let me build one. I'm not liking my chances....

Hope everyone has a great day!

My wife would like a new bed, she finds the current one too high.
I don't get it, why are they making beds so high now? We replaced our bed a few years back and we found many of them ridiculously high, many of them to the point that you have to crawl up on to them as opposed to sit down on them. The first one that we bought was so high that I couldn't even sit on the edge of it to put my socks on. It was ridiculous. Luckily it had a no charge return period and we exchanged it for a lower normal height bed.

I assume this to be a stupid question before I even write it as I am pretty sure that if it was a possibility you would have already considered it but, here goes anyway. Any chance that you can just lower the bed frame that you already have? Be it wood or metal maybe the the legs can be cut down a little to lower it as an example. We bought a whole new bed- The mattress, the box spring, the frame, the head-board, the whole shebang. It cost a bloody fortune. Always easier, and whole lot cheaper, to replace just a mattress than the entire set if possible.

Funny you mention that Andrew, my wife suggested cutting down the legs but I was aghast. However, I may be slowly coming around to that idea.

The other issue is that the support rail down the middle, it's a king, failed as it was only held up by a couple of flimsy vertical short pieces of wood that didn't have any bracing. I banged together a rectangular box out of 2x6's but she's not keen on how it feels under the bed.

The real trick is going to be finding a height that works for both of us; she's 4'9" and I'm 5'11" (or at least used to be, time and gravity have likely had an impact). She needs it low enough to be able to get on, while I need it high enough to be able to get out.

Much to my surprise this can be done in Quebec here as well but almost nobody knows about it, including the people who work at the license bureau. My Brother in-law used to switch his plate between a couple of motorcycles. It cost $10.00 each time to do this. I asked about it once at the license bureau local to me and they basically told me that I was out of my mind and that such a thing can not be done. Yet my Brother in-law was doing it on a regular basis multiple through the summer.

Since he was getting paperwork, receipts, proof of the transaction, etc., it obviously was an official transaction in the governments computer system. Its existence really surprised me because it means that it allows vehicle owners to pay less money to the government, which normally does not seem to be their goal.

@SupraSabre

It's not silkscreened quality, but you can use acetone to transfer a photocopy onto cotton fabric, It's a classic DIY crafting method trick. The technique— sometimes called an acetone transfer—works by chemically melting the toner of a laser-printed image, so it temporarily softens and then binds to the cotton fibers.

Look it up if you're interested, although I'd likely stick to the "professionals" for best results.

Yeah, I think I'll find a Vendor! ;) I did send a "test" into one vendor, and see how it turns out.
