Hello,
I am new to the forum recently purchased 2016 st1300 pa, looking at puting heated grips and some extra lighting.
I did see see the oxford heated grips but was not sure on the diameter, they come in 2 sizes.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

As for extra lighting if you have a PA model and have the under or over mirror mounts you can add almost any LED driving or fog lights to those.

There are also other options to mount lights to the forks, engine crash bars and more. Some require more creativity than others.

The easiest is to use the police mirror brackets.

You can also upgrade the stock headlight bulbs to LED. There's a good thread here in the forum. Just search for "F2 led"

Hi Kev:

Welcome to the forum community.

If you are looking for the PIAA 910 lights, which were very popular in the ST community in the late 1990s & up to about 2010, they are out of production. But as @Obo noted above, there are lots of LED lights out there to choose from.

Just like the other thread asking about Oxfords. So I'll copy/paste. My bike had the Sport version of Oxford's when I got it. After they died I tried replacing them with the Touring model. Little too short. So I went back to the Sport. 7/8's is what you need.

Add the Grip Puppies over them and you got yourself the perfect combo.

As for the PIAA's. There are much better options now. Clearwater ilights are just about as good as you can get. I've got Darla and Krista on mine. Can't say enough nice things about them. Brighter than you can imagine. Well made.

Mine came with over the mirror brackets. I put these Hella led lights on and only needed longer bolts to mount directly. I was looking for something with a small profile.

They do not give a directional spot light, more like a flood light, I use them during the day and at night in the country when cars are not around. I connected these to my "switch 4" on the right hand extra switches. There are actually 3 wires behind the mirror shells that run to the back if you want to make wiring easier. The switch plug is back there too (I just jumpered right over to the switch).

Hello Ryan,
Mine came with a bracket for the sirens goes between the mirror and fairing is that what you used to mount the lights. Also can you just use that wiring to connect the lights correct.
Thanks

Hello Kevkev,
Yes, I had the standard brackets that loop over the mirror and have a vertical hole. If you remove the mirror shells and reach around in the hole that the mirror wires run through, there are 3 wires with female plugs on either side. These run to the back of the bike, under the radio box plate (same connections and wire colors there too). There is also two larger plugs that go to the switches, I fabricated jumpers from this switch connector to the wires I used for the front.

Just a note, my 2016 was new and never had police equipment installed. If yours had been used some or all of the wiring may have changed. A multi-meter is your friend here, it took me about an hour to work out where to connect in power, ground and which connection was which switch.

I will be home from vacation next week if you have stock wiring and want a picture of which wires I used.

Good luck,
Ryan

Rather than add extra lights.

1. Replace headlight bulbs with Nighteye H4 bulbs
2. Replace indicators with combined white DLR / switchable orange direction indicators.

This gives both good visibility of road ahead and a superb presence for other road users.

That's awesome!
I don't have the police model, but would you mind sharing where you got the bulbs and the indicators?
Do you know whether there's already an article on installation?
Thanks much!

There's a whole thread here on the LED upgrades (headlight, clear lenses, switchback direction signal LED, new flasher etc..) as well as photos and parts for the ST1300

Wow, the clear lights for the turn signals look great! I may have to go that route and just remove my extra lights. I really like how you matched all the light temperatures as well. I assume these would work as a flood, is there any issues with blinding oncoming traffic? Mostly I just added extra lights for daytime visibility, so normally this is not a concern. I just want to make sure when I am out at night it is not a problem since I cannot turn them off.

Thanks!
Ryan
