Heated grips & Piaa lights

Are there different F2s? All of the Evitek boxes I have seen are labeled "36W/6000LM" but the Evitek site says:

12000LM 80W per set

Here's the link: http://www.evitekelectronic.com/sal...headlight-h4-hi-lo-c-r-ee-car-led-light.html#

All about creative wording and exaggeration. The 12000LM 80W is per set, so 6000LM 40W per bulb.... and they may be actually slightly lower than those specs, but yes they're the same. :)

I'm not sure about the shimming for the 1100. I know I didn't put a bit of wire in my 1300, I just installed the bulbs. (there's a ring that goes in first and is clipped in and then the bulb pushes in and stays in place by a detent pin ball.

these are the lights i am going to put on my PA. I had some on a 2005 st1300 for 4 years with no problems and still going strong when i sold the 2005. They mount where the reflectors are using the same bracket on the front forks. No matter what brand lights you get you want to buy spot lights instead of flood lights. Work great at night as driving lights with the headlights. I wired them to the running lights so they are on all the time . You can see them a 1/2 mile away in day time. Pulling up behind cars they move over and let you by they are clear white LEDs in a black frame.

How do you feel about vehicles approaching you with their high beams on? That's ok? You like to duke it out photon a photon?

I have these lights set level straight ahead working like driving lights. I have never had a vehicle flash there high beams at me so I guess it doesn't bother them. I ride with my low beams on all the time If they have there high beams on and don't turn them down i just flash mine on and off letting off the gas till the jerks pass......

Good money says other cars feel the same about you. There's no substitute for aiming lights and using lights as required by law. I think a lot of people are slow to react or are too afraid to flash somebody with annoying lights.

I'm not sure a saw a final decision on the heated grips choice by the OP, but a couple of months ago I installed the Koso AM111030 7/8" + 1" Apollo Heated Grips via Amazon and I couldn't be happier.

Dirt simple installation since everything is contained within the grips. The temperature control is in the body of the left grip - no need to mount and wire a separate control unit to the bars or body work. On the coldest day I've ridden since, I've found the middle setting of five to be perfect. The top two have been too warm for extended comfort at the temps I've tested but they do work well to warm my hands up quickly. They have a memory so they're at the last set temperature when you turn them on after starting the bike.

Only two wires to connect - one to power and the other to ground. I wired them into my quartet harness using the connector intended for the OEM heated grips.

Plus, I find the grips themselves to be more comfortable than the stock OEM grips. Haven't sampled Grip Puppies yet, but there's still time. :)

Couple things have deterred me from getting heated grips. Well, excuses really.
1. Still prefer heated gloves (some of you are getting tired of me saying this!) for all-round comfort.
2. Don't have a quartet harness (but I have a line on one!) - yeah, I know i could go to battery or fuse block just as well.
3. I've removed handgrips ONCE (granted, a different Honda) and it was the definition of PITA!
Nonetheless, I'm sure they would come in handy on occasion, and I definitely like the easy / clean wiring setup to the Q-harness.
I put 'em on my Amazon wish list, just in case.

Some have complained about unequal heating between the two sides.

Does anyone make heated grips with separate controllers for each grip?

Larry - specifically with the Koso grips? If so I detect no discernable difference in temperature. I can't say I've ever seen any grip heater with separate controls. I expect every manufacturer designs them to heat equally and even considering a separate controller would price them out of any market. A consumer hardware hack is certainly conceivable. Perhaps a balance control akin to that on audio equipment?

Sadlsor - You're more that welcome to prefer heated gloves! And I know numerous riders that have both heated grips and gloves. The one thing grips have over gloves though, is you can't misplace or lose them. They're always there. :)

Those look great (nice pic btw) but I have a G2 Throttle Tamer and the knurled surface and possibly thicker diameter might not work with the Apollos. On the fence at the moment.

Since you'd be removing old handgrips to be replaced with new ones the solution is simple — utility knife. One careful cut on each and you're done.

If they're to be reused then an air compressor with a blow gun pressed against the bar end and grip will break the glue grip and allow you to quickly remove the grip intact.
