Back in the day a Silverwing was a motorcycle. GL500 to be exact. A Friend's dad had one. Think baby Goldwing. V twin, liquid cooled.

Not a scooter - but for a lighter Honda in the smaller capacity class, with shaft drive, it's still hard to beat the value of a used NT700V Deauville. 680cc, 65hp. 527lbs, though.

I have a 700VA to pair with my 1300. Very nice bike, and very comfortable. Has a cheerful character to it, and handles quite well. Even though it's not particularly light, it feels it compared to an ST. I find the wind management to be phenomenal on the deauville.IMG_20221029_172537824_HDR.jpg

The GL500 was the first shaft drive bike I saw way back in the late 70s and early 80s when I was paying attention. When I first heard about a Silver Wing that was the bike that came to my mind.

I always really wanted a gl650 with the full bags and the sideways high rpm vtwin. Monoshock too. Way ahead of it's time. If I remember correctly, they have a couple of reliability concerns that are very labor intensive to rectify, I think they call it the "triple bypass."

The 500 and 650 have a big following in the custom bike world FB_IMG_1614174678919.jpgFB_IMG_1614174674887.jpgFB_IMG_1614272955105.jpg

I gave this up in 2012, after an on the job accident left me with a neck with a fractured vertebrae and a blown disc. Add to that a near constant case of vertigo, and it was time to stop riding. GL500I.
