How to Eliminate vibration in Right handlebar?

so I'm thinking about heavier bar ends. The factory bar ends weight in at 10oz's which are heavier by 1oz then the chrome throttle lock bar ends that were on the bike. Trying to work out most of the complaints before I hit the road for a long trip. Thanks as always for all the help and support I receive here on this site. Take care, Ron.

does anyone have any experience with Barsnake?
My cynicism kicked in when I read their website's explanation for what this product is. They use too much mumbo jumbo and wrong reasons in the description. I was going to suggest filling the handlebar with lead shot. I don't know if this will do anything but it is worth a try. Some years back there was a device marketed called the Vibranator. This was a tuned mass damper - a weight on the end of a rod that vibrated at a specific frequency. It was inserted into the handlebar, a screw tightened that expanded a rubber collar to clamp it in place, and you were set. The Vibranator's vibrations cancelled out the handlebar's at the appropriate rpm that caused the vibes. One problem with this approach is the thing only works at a set frequency of vibration, and you need to know your bike's freq in order to design the Vibranator. That said, one design should work for of, say, Hondas thumpers of a given displacement since they will all probably have similar vibrations in their handlebars. Alas, the Vibranator is no longer made.

The Barsnake, while explained by confusing techno-speak, might help. Give them a call and ask about their return/guarantee policy and you might decide to risk the $40 odd cost (with shipping).

I can recommend the HVMP bar ends
Likewise. HVMP had a sale on the Extra Heavy Weights awhile back and I noticed a difference right away. There seemed a slight decrease in buzzy-ness but it was much longer before my hand started going numb. I say numb but it was more the pins and needles thing. They (EHW) do look a little clunky but I got over that pretty quick.

I was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced a vibration in the Right handle bar?
I'm curious also. Have you tried anything yet?

So my bike already has Heli-bars, I also have an aftermarket seat with a back rest. I was always sitting more forward, my back rarely touched the back rest. So I played around with the Heli-bars. Tilted further back and higher...now I sit up straighter and my back is on the backrest. Very comfortable and felt better on the hands. One of the guy's here mentioned HVMP bar ends. I wasn't sold on that idea and was reluctant to pay $100.00 to find out if that was the answer. So on the advise from a friend, I got some used tape on wheel weights and taped them on the factory bar ends. I started off with 16 oz, it was an improvement. So I added another 2 oz...normally after 40 minutes on the bike my hands are starting to go numb, but this time was different. So now I'm looking for 18 oz bar ends, for the time being I'm riding around with weights on my bar ends the size of Tennis balls covered in White Duct Tape. That's all for today's update, time will tell if I found the cure, but thanks for all your help.

So, I'm trying to communicate with HVMP, but they aren't speediest group. With that said does anyone know will the bar ends HVMP makes for a ST1300 also fit on a ST1100? They make 18.4 oz bar ends for the 1300 and according to my research I need 18oz or more.

Long story short Steve at HVMP says that the bar ends for the St1100 will do the trick. They are actually 17.1 oz's and they have a good return policy30day's. So I'm going to give them a try.

I am thinking that having a vibration in only one of handle bars indicates a moment-of-inertia problem such that there is a harmonic in one bar and not the other. Changing the weight distribution on the vibrating bar should eliminate the harmonic.

I think everybody is over thinking this. We don't get a numb left hand because the grip is mounted solidly to the bar. On the right side the grip is mounted to a plastic throttle tube that free floats and vibrates against the bar. Those slight vibrations give you the tingly/numb feeling in the right hand. Yes there are some things you can do to reduce the vibes but the vibes will be there inherently by design.

It would take a deft hand at a lathe or whatever but maybe a shim-tube could be fabricated to take up that slack.

Or slather in some moly paste for reduced friction and viscous damping.
