I hit a deer 10-9-25

...and another ST bites the dust.
Dang.
Not like they're making any more of these, y'know? I wish the insurance bean counters would try to help preserve these things.

Not to mention when all the desirable parts are sold, you are left with a chassis and engine and other miscellaneous parts to deal with.
This. Sure I could sell some parts and probably turn a profit but then I end up with half a bike I have to figure out how to get rid of. Easier just to take the cash and move on

Very sorry to hear- just reading this now- I think the months of October/ November are prime time for deer (I think it’s their mating season).
My son in law says the hunters drive the deer down into town. Well, for what ever reason, there has been quite a uptick in the quantity of deer here in town. Too many crossing streets to speed on my bike or car.

I hit a deer around 11AM in West Virginia on Thursday. I was on Jordan Run Road about 1.5 miles south of WV 42 (around 20 miles north of Seneca Rocks). The deer jumped out of the woods from the right hand side of the road and I estimated that I had about 2 seconds before impact. Only enough time to brace for impact. I was traveling around 55-60 mph, fortunately I kept the bike upright. I had zero injuries. The deer didn’t survive. My bike doesn’t look that bad, I was able to ride it 450 miles back home. I’m estimating there is $2,500 in parts alone that need replaced not including any labor cost. Unfortunately I fear if I turn it into insurance it will be totaled out. I’ve considered fixing it myself but the left fairing needs replaced and it’s not available from Honda. Seems it all adds up to just let insurance total it out and look for a replacement.
Sorry to see this. Glad you walked away from it. I also had a mishap (not a deer hit). Luckily no damage to me, the bike needed a cowl stay, the upper cowl, RH cover and a few things here and there. Cost me about 600. I was able to get everything from Partzilla. It is encouraging that the bike is functional and rideable. Good Luck.

It rates a bigger pic. :)

Lift the airbox base up and inspect all the injector wires.
Mice love to chew on those!
Those staintune exhausts were over a grand by themselves.
Plan to lift the airbox and look around.

The staintunes did not come with the bike which I was fine with, I have the Delkevic's that came off the 08. But I'll probably just stick with the OEM anyway.

Salvage company picked up the deer strike 08 ST yesterday. Made a trip over to Columbus Ohio today and picked up this immaculate 09 ST.
I remember that CampSTOC at Iron Horse when you and I rode the North River Road past the falls and climbed back up to the Skyway. Two heavy sport tourers making on the heavily rutted gravel road like a couple of dual sports. Did you not consider another Connie 1400 after that one? That's a beautiful ST1300 by the way.

I never felt the Connie 14 "fit me" like the ST did. Just wasn't as comfortable for me and the one I had vibrated at highway speeds, the ST is just so smooth. I did look at FJR's to replace the totaled ST but I've never ridden one and I couldn't find a great deal on a Gen 3. So I decided to go with what I know ( I know how to do all the maintenance on the ST) and could get a great deal on.
