International Worker's Day Friday coffee and weather, 1 May

Good morning everyone

It's IWD (a.k.a. Labor or Labour Day) in much of the world today, so let's assume Martin, Stoo, and the rest are having a lie-in on their holiday, or perhaps they're out in the streets singing the Internationale. Here in the Noonited States it's just Friday, 1 May.

It's 39°F and (supposedly) clear in Rockville, going to a sunny 65 later on.

We'll take the 88 year old widow who lives across the court out for her birthday this morning. We tried, on the actual date a bit over a month ago, but got skunked when we arrived only to discover that the target venue is closed on Tuesdays.

After that, it's goof with my regular playing partner / neighbor.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Good morning and I'll echo the happy Labour Day especially to the underappreciated who keep the wheels moving
the movie will come to mind eventually, you know the one where the guy keeps adjusting the hands on the clock and ends up
getting relieved by the other guy that almost collapses from exhaustion - well made point for a silent movie if you like that sort of thing
On the brighter side, it's gonna get brighter here in the lower mainland, looks like highs this weekend above 25 so best time to get a ride in is early
Hope to get onto some other ongoing projects stay focused and resist the temptation to take on anything new
but first, no labour day here

Morning all, and thanks Keith, for the coffee.

No holiday here, just labouring.

9C and wet. Torrential downpours overnight, accompanied by winds that made the rain sound like hail on the house windows. Guess we had warnings.

Had my first short ride of 2026 yesterday afternoon, about 40km. Took the wing out for a short jaunt, then came home and grabbed the new trailer for it's maiden voyage and repeated the loop. You almost can't see the trailer in the bike's mirrors. You can only see the little silver bits of it's direction signals.

I did find the lighting wasn't working properly on it, so had some troubleshooting to do when I got home.

It had 2 issues.

Issue 1. was the wiring adapter was wired wrong (not my fault as it came with the trailer.) The trailer is a 6 way square and the bike is a 5 way flat. I cut all the wires, checked the bike's feeds with a tester and trailer wiring with an external battery. Rewired and tested OK now.

Issue 2. was the LED bulb upgrades the PO had done. LED bulbs with a high/low can work 2 ways. Two independent sets of LEDs, or one set of shared LEDs with a resistor on the low side (so it's dimmer.) A decent bulb has diode(s) to prevent the power from back feeding to the other circuit. The brake/tail light bulb they bought didn't have a diode in it, so it was back feeding power into the bike's extra brake lights thru my isolator.

Swapped the offending LED out for an incandescent bulb and all was good.

I'm sure this was all Greek to some of you. When I was explaining it to my wife at supper, her eyes glazed over and she said all she heard was "blah blah, blah blahblah."

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Keith.

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the day just continues to get better.
It's 42, rising to 62 and the sun will be out most of the day.

For some reason, the sleepies hit me, yesterday, and I just couldn't stay awake. The recliner felt sooo good! I'm surprised that I was able to sleep, when I finally did go to bed, but I managed. While I was asleep, after dinner, Brenda made some banana bread, so breakfast is tasty this morning

I got a message, yesterday, that my urologist follow-up appointment had been moved from 11:00 to 9:30. I'm looking forward to not having tubing hanging out of my %^&*.
Afterward, we'll head over to the VA to see if they can remove the staples a bit early.

Brenda is all packed, and she'll head north to Loudon after dinner. It looks like I'll be alone for a couple of days

Mornin’ y’all. Thanks, Keith. Ok, I’ll help celebrate workers day, but when do we celebrate retirees day? I vote for the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays of next week.

Still cool at 47. Sunny and 66 for the high. About 15 degrees cooler than the last couple of weeks.

Nothing planned for today, but a late night TV ad has now caused a craving for a hot, juicy steak. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time that I went out for a steak, but today might be the day. I guess I’d better brace myself for sticker shock.

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee, Keith!

There were no power outages last night, so I actually got some sleep. Today will be sunny, but cool and gusty with temps ranging from the current 4°C/39°F to 12°C/54°F. Not much on the agenda today, other than venturing out to replace my bedside table lamp, which seem to be shorting out after many, many years.
