It's taken me some time for this to settle in.
To say Paul was one of the good ones is a major understatement.
He never had anything bad to say about anyone and was always quick to share anything he thought was useful to someone with regards to riding, or anything else for that matter, and was quick to absorb the experience of others.
He just finished doing the Heart of Texas Rally a few weeks ago and during the last RTE he'd announced he was buying
@bdalameda 's bike and had just confirmed his plane ticket. He was excited to get that bike and have an epic ride on the way back then begin setting up one bike as a rally-bike. He commuted everyday to work and I joked with him how his maroon 1100 was actually pink due to the paint fading.
I spoke with him on the phone before his plane trip as he was looking for an audio cord for his sena headset but you could tell he was really stoked and looking forward to this trip.
We all followed his trip once he showed up in CA and the last picture in NM seemed like the remaining part of the trip was an easy non-scenic leg home.
My heart sank when I saw this thread started, I didn't want to open it because it had to be some kind of joke... sadly, not.
This hobby we participate in comes with it's risks and we all know and accept those and we loose our friends from time to time, some hit more personally than others, this one hit me pretty hard.
Rest in Peace Paul.. your last trip was an epic one full of great memories and scenic views and we are all better off due to you sharing those valuable moments with us.
