Received TS-70 moly paste today in advance of tire change. Is 5 grams really enough for the splines? That's what is in the manual. The white plastic lid the paste is in weighed 3 grams.

5g is exactly what the manual calls for to be applied to the joint surface of the splines in the final gear case and on the driven flange - ie the female and male parts respectively.
Is that what 5g looks like ? It looks to be a lot.

That is plenty. All that is needed is enough to make sure that all of the metallic surfaces are fully coated.
Anything beyond that is not providing any additional protection.

A little perspective for you John.
5 grams is about 3 drams or so. Have a good look when you are having a wee dram tonight and you'll have a better idea.

I thought the moly paste was specifically for the splines. Is that not the case?
