I'm caffeinated!
not 'motivated'... :coffee:

G'Day... or not...

13°/26°C, no clouds but a gray, haze layer... 🌫️🌤️
a refreshing ride to the office in my mesh jacket, whilst feeling a bit soggy at 71%RH...

home Nespresso... ☕

office Nescafé... ☕

FYW (for your warning) am I unsupervised for the reST of the week... since Sunday...
ze GF has taken the week off to host her grandkid... 🏃‍♀️
daughter #1 offspring... she's 8, feral, and trouble... the pronouns are 'who?' and 'me?'... ;)
the most exhausting is keeping her physically so busy during the day, that she'll actually sleeps before midnight for a change... 🤔
So during that 'state of emergency' am I rather taking cover at my place... 😁
And I guess ze GF will need another week off to recover after this one... ;)

Thursday an encounter of the 3rd kind... with a 'MOT inspector'... :cautious:
(FYI was that check done at the ÖAMTC, a local AAA equivalent I am only member for their abroad travel and recovery service...)

He obviously couldn't find anything on the '00 ST... but came out declaring a "fail" over "RHS rotor below wear limit"... HUH?! Am I in the wrong movie?!
Fact is: new 5.0mm, wear limit 4.0mm, my rotor has a thickness of 4.29mm... so that's about 30% material still left... (otherwise I would have certainly noticed/corrected...)

IMG_20260718_094508.jpg

Besides the efforts of having to go there again (within 3 weeks and limited to covering not more then 1000km...) are all those 'tests' getting
entered into a state's online(!) database... owner, vehicle, fault... :cautious:
Why do I, as paying member, have to get myself denounced at the DMV by them? 🤔
- political dictate? (oh those bad ICEs...)
- personal sensitivities? (some mechs simply dislike 'full dressed' motorcycles...)
- showing off his Chinese "digital" rotor vernier caliper? (not unlikely...)
- others, like age of vehicle? (on old rigs we just have to come up with 'something'...)

Yeah, despite I would have gotten another 20~30,000km of that RHS rotor, I swapped them, now 4.82mm left, 4.78mm right... so almost new, eat that!

Have to check out today's work load situation, but intend to go there again in the afternoon... showing the new rotors and questioning the results and above all: their motives...

so, welcome to another darn Monday...

Thx Martin!
I’m happy we don’t have MOTs on motorcycles up here….not that there’s anything wrong with mine.

Been many fatal accidents on youngster driven 125ccs. Quite often failure on brakes or on damaged fork seals leaking fluid on the disks…
Someone should teach them kids proper maintenance.

Which leads me to todays task, checking the front brakes on my sons 2017 Rav4…vibration when hot.

And our guesthouse is open again, now with a nephew as well as our son and gf as «guests».
A lot of life here suddenly.

And the deck is finished.
I’ve put on one coat of oil (raw linsseed oil/terpentine/vinegar 1:1:1), the second coat later today perhaps.

@Obo The deck is on the southside/leeward side of the house, but looking west we can see the sea…

14˚c/57f, sunny, 20mph breeze from north, a bit cold me thinks…

Have a good one!
Stu

Thanks, Martin, but sorry for your MOT debacle.
What's MOT stand for?
Minister of Travel?
More Often Trouble?
I would have an issue with paying for a vehicle, annual registration, monthly insurance, and THEN an inspection. Well, I'm a$$uming you pay for the MOT, but I know I'm often wrong when I do.
Warmer today, fewer threatening storms or showers, so Kaiser gets to come to work with me today for the first time in a week.
Wish I could send him to work, so I can go back to sleep.
I don't see any sun here yet, but I assume it will show itself in a little bit.
Called Larry in AZ last night, the radiation and chemo are wearing him down. If you're of a praying nature, please do.
I need to check in on @Shuey and @Nashcat too.
I also need to refill my coffee mug, as the liquid which was in it, seems to have evaporated.

EFIT: the deck looks great, Stu. Wish I could build that fast.

Morning all, and thanks for the start Martin.

Some people are just too thick, while other's patience wears thin. That's my take on it. I'll stop while I'm ahead.

14C here and cloudy for the ride into work. The 5am alarm wasn't welcomed after a week off, but it had a job to do, and did it. The rest is on me now. It'll pop up to a partly sunny 22, if the prognosticators are right.

Yesterday, Mrs. O and I got out for about 7 hours on the Wing, with only a few hick ups. My caveman compass failed me around the US border and I took a wrong turn that didn't seem correct, and definitely wasn't when we eventually hit a Y in the road where both roads became dirt. We had to do a little backtracking to get back to the proper route. We also hit a few patches of rain, both light and heavy. I didn't bring my rain gear as there wasn't anything in the forecast, and Mrs. O just decided to ride it out as she got very little of it with me being her blocker. We arrived home early evening as the sun as setting.

Stu, the deck looks good. First time I've heard of vinegar on a deck.

Hope everyone had a good weekend, and has a great Monday.

Obo.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Martin.

It's 59 and sunny in MA this morning rising to 80 for today's high.

Yesterday, we didn't do a lot. We needed some supplies, so we took a trip to the local wholesale store for that.
We emptied the car, and headed out for an early dinner. We got to see the first half of the Spain/Argentina game, then returned home for the rest.

Today, I'll head over to the track in Thompson for a Club trackday event.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

I understand the linseed/vinegar issue, but what's the deal with the doghouse? Your personal in case of emergency retreat? ;)

I'm confused.
If the limit is 4.0 mm and he measured yours at 4.29 mm, what is the justification for the failure?
Which leads to why did you have to change it if it wasn't below the limit?

Good morning all!
Thanks for the get go, Martin!
STu, I like the look of your work on that deck!
Obo’s cannon may not work that well for you!
I’ve been wondering how @Nashcat is!
I’m hoping he & Teddy are busy camping!
Miss Judy’s Celebration of Life is August 2nd, (here at her cottage)
I’ll leave an open invitation for any of you that are near enough, to attend!
Judy always enjoyed a party!
Currently 65F, heading to a beautiful 72!
Enjoy your day!

The cannon opening is exactly as wide as the fan opening on the unit.
And it’s open at the house side and beneath the back side..
Hope I’m ok.
If output is diminishing, I will trim it for shure…

G/mornin' from SoMD! I'm on cuppa #2, so I should be safe enough to handle for short periods of time. Thanks, Martin! It has been relatively nice the last few days since the storms rolled through...they missed my house totally...dropping temps and scrubbing the Canadian smoke assault (paraphrasing our mindless administration) from the air for the time being.

It's a WFH Monday, so I get to avoid defray the anger I build against cage-driving twit-waffles. So, today will be screen time broken up by uninvited views of the Prince Of Purrsia's posterior *BLECH*, and maybe some diddling in the garage. Mainly trying to recharge a battery that has sat for (too) long.

The bike has inauspiciously sat for several days too. Just haven't had time or it's just been too hot to commute. Though we're supposed to get more rain tonight thru Wednesday, anything can happen around here. Thursday and Friday look good, so far. Not much else on the agenda. Take care y'all!

You all have heard of the Term "The Gun Deck"?
Beats the poop deck.

WPC and that...

I'm confused.
So was I... :cautious:

I measured my rotor with 4.29...
They claim to have a "better caliper" (MUHAHAHAHA!!! 🤣 I saw that thing, KS Tools, € 48,- at Amazon... 🙃)

However, why argue any further with those bozos... 🤪

Morning all! Sunny with some high wispy cirrus clouds. Predicted high will be 25C. So I wore shorts to work. I think I can honestly say this is a first but a number of others in the office have been wearing them so who am I to buck the trend?

It was a gorgeous morning when I took the dogs for a walk;
