I'm looking for a new pair of boots. I've worn out two pair of TourMaster Response boots and trid a pair of Pantagonia hiking boots. The soles wore out on the Response and the Pantagonia's are more of a winter boot and too warm.

I'd like some thing that may be resoled. Could be worn around the office with jeans or khakis. Comfortable for all day and commuter travel. I'd put in arch supports for my plantar fasciitus.

I'll be looking at a pair of Bates Leathers FastLane boots. I've seen some good reviews but the are rather old. They seem to be very well made, basically custom, long lasting and comfortable. He main complaint is they don't have the protection/armor that some boots have today.

I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with them? Or any suggestions on boots for commuting and general riding.

Thanks for your I put,

Take a look at TCX boots. They have some that have plenty of armor but don't look like boy racer boots. I have a pair that I just retired that I wore for 13 years. All day comfortable too. Only issue is that they use European sizing, so that can take some trial and error to find the right size.

+1 on the TCX.

I am generally a believer in boots made for motorcycling vs "boots," BUT I indulged myself into a pair of Redwing work boots.. pricey.. but man do they fit and are comfy and all that. I also love them for wearing on the bike, and they look fine, and are also fine for hiking around when you pull over, all that stuff. They are so substantial, and waterproof, that it's hard to imagine they wouldn't offer near the protection of dedicated bike boots.. FWIW

I've been using the Aerostich Combat Lites for years. An excellent, well made boot that is resolable. Easy on/off with their lacing system. They also have the regular Combat (non Lite) model which is taller if that's your thing. I believe they are made by Sidi for Aerostich. They take some breaking in when you first get 'em but I was over that in a week or two and they've been great ever since.
