Many OHV engines of the pre to post WWI period had exposed valves. They were lubed liberally prior to start up and frequently afterward....hopefully before the lube was consumed and a valve failed.That is cool. I've often wondered what kept the valve stems, rocker pivots, pushrod sockets, valve guides, etc. lubricated on open engines like that?
