Rotella and other diesel oils?

Owners manual suggests SF/SG 10w40 oil. No mention of any JASO specs ......

That is because it pre-dates when JASO became neccessary. Prior to JASO using an automotive oil that was not labelled as energy/resource conserving was sufficient. That is often no longer necessarily the case when using an automobile oil as they now have many different additives that were not present back then. These additives being introduced in automobile oils is what precipitated the introduction of the JASO standard and the recommendation for using JASO MA rated oils.

As much as I've worked on my bike, I'm still very new to the nuances of it. I go far has been a wonderful help, but I'm still a little leery on letting go of both handlebars when I ride, cuz the steering seems super sensitive and a little bit shaky. I don't know if I need to adjust something in the front end or have my front end bearings looked at, but I will get there eventually. I've had my bike for about 4 or 5 years now and it came to me as a front end wreck but everything was good on it for the most part. And I've gotten it back to OEM looking with the help of I go far. But I am still trying to figure out how to get the steering f*** to be smooth as silk without all the tiny vibrations and the super sensitivity on highways. So I can at least Cruise comfortably with my hands off the handlebars from time to time.

Is it the SuperTECH you are referring to?
Have you done some research before picking it, I couldn't find information about JASCO and detergent additives.

The crush washers work better if flipped over each oil change

So that leads to another question... Obviously, when you flip the crush washer over, does it matter what kind of oil you use for the next oil change? What I mean, is it okay to mix the type of oil? Say a synthetic oil on one side of the crush washer, and on the other side, just plain old "dino" oil? Hmm...

I'm sure someone knows how much oil is absorbed in the crush washer each time and whether mixing the oil (if they are different) will make a difference.

I thoroughly clean and polish (this is the important step) the used crush washer before the flip and reinstall. No cross contamination for me.

Funny thing about those mysterious soft crush washers. They are there to stop oil leaks, nothing more. If it don't leak your good.

Short version: same washer probably 400,000 miles here on the ST1300.

Long version: I change the oil myself in all my oil lubed engines.

I have no new crush washers for any of the above. Ok okay some of them even only have a pipe plug thingy for a drain hole...but they don't leak.
