Yes, not me, but there have been reports of those filter bits playing havoc with the carb diaphragms.

This is part of my periodic check and I change it with the air filter. The manual says to replace the air filter every 12000 miles. Look more often than that.

I just bought the bike 5 weeks ago,3or 4 weeks ago the filer looked fine inspected it and reused it! was syncn the carbs an saw how quickly the filter rotted away!! have a new one tuesday. Im jus hoping it doesnt screw up my carbs!

i just bought a used st 5 weeks ago! inspected filter 3weeks ago<looked fine!! last week it was in pieces!!! bought 2 news ones...1 is a spare
