ST1300 Clutch Line

Hi Andrew,
I replaced the old oil with silkolene 10W-40 semi synthetic. I was considering taking the master cylinder apart again and checking I put the new parts in the right way round. I did wonder if the brass bush in the lever that the push rod sits in might be worn resulting in the piston not being pushed the full length of the bore although it didn’t look worn at the time I replaced the seals a few weeks ago.
The CSC is OK as I fitted the complete part so no assembly by me required, just fit the new part. There doesn’t seem to be much fluid expelled during bleeding so perhaps the problem still is with the CMC. The CSC wasn’t leaking fluid out of the weep hole but was full of crud and I could see fluid had bypassed the seal.
Bob.

Thanks for the info paramedic. I’m going to pull the CMC apart again and check I fitted everything correctly and fit a 2nd set of seals in case I damaged any during the previous install. If that doesn’t fix the problem then I’ll have the cowls off and see about removing the existing line. I have been told there is a hydraulics company not far from me that is I take them the original part they can replace the worn rubber with hose with new reenforced hose. Will see what I’m up against when the cowls are off and go from there.

Update on previous post. I replaced the CMC with another rebuild kit. It was the same make (Tourmax) but this kit came with a small tub of grease, previous one didn’t. On removing the existing replacement kit all the parts seemed to have been assembled correctly. After assembly of the replacement kit I noticed when bleeding the system I was get more fluid expelled when pulling the clutch lever. Perhaps a faulty seal with the previous kit or I had damaged the piston seal during the previous rebuild.
When done and on stating the bike there was the dreaded clunk when put it into 1st gear so I had a cuppa tea while the bike warmed up.
once the bike had warmed up the clunk into 1st and 2nd was no where near as bad so took it it for a spin. After about 10 miles the clunking was now hardly noticeable. After about 7 hours with the bike having gone cold I started it and placed it into gear and their was a very minor clunk engaging 1st gear. I then went from neutral to 1st and 2nd several times with a very minor of sometimes no clunk at all. Problem seems to be sorted. Maybe a combination of bad parts or bad assembly on my part during my rebuild plus a combination of a good run needed get get the new oil in and around the clutch plates?
I will give it another run at the weekend to see if the issue is sorted and then see about replacing the hydraulics line.
By coincidence my friend came round on his 3000m 2 year old MT07 and that clunks into 1st and 2nd from neutral even when warmed up and that just had an intermediate dealer service ??
