It will with the pedal, if I’m confused someone will correct me.

The rear pistons will activate but solely due to the pressure being applied from the rear brake pedal. There is no pressurization of any brake piston in any caliper by the SMC if the motorcycle is stationary regardless of whether the front or rear brake is activated. The SMC can only be activated by applying brake pressure when there is forward motion of the motorcycle or if it is manually manipulated.

Thanks for the response. Hopefully that means that my SMC is ok? I am thinking that my rear brake pistons need to be cleaned, spraying with brake cleaner & pressed all the way in and add new brake pads to stop the whale sound rubbing while backing up? One thing that I have read is to add silicone grease under the SMC boot. I have never done this. I did pull the boot up some & was wondering how to get the grease under/in it?
