Good morning,

I'm going to replace the front and rear signal and brake bulbs on my '05 ST1300 with LED's.
What part numbers (original equipment) should I reference to order the proper replacements?

Thanks,

John

You want a 7443 bulb.

Get the amber bulbs for the direction signals. If you use white ones you'll likely get a hot spot and discoloration in the lens. (not permanent, just when the light is on)
Likewise get a red bulb for the brake lights.

Also order the clear front turn signal lens and then order the switchback bulbs for the front. And don't forget to order a new flasher as the LEDS won't function properly with the OEM flasher.

When you order LEDs you'll want to match the color of the LED to the lenses so amber for the front and read for the rear.

If you want to consider switchbacks (white running lights and amber turn signals) you could order switch back bulbs now and get the clear lenses (from CN via ebay or alibaba) whenever. As mentioned the LED flasher from superbrightleds is plug and play and keeps your flash rate normal.

Is this the right flasher?

Looks correct. This is what I got.

You want the 2 pin model. Just google LF1-S-PIN and you'll find a bunch of sellers on Amazon, Ebay etc. All the same item, just different names.

Is the tail light bulb a dual element (for the brake lights too) ? Or 2 separate bulbs?

Tail light bulbs are a dual element (7443) as are the front turn signal bulbs. The rear turn signal bulbs are only single element but you can use the same bulb in them.
It just makes it easier to buy all 7443 bulbs, but you can use 7440 (single element) in the rear direction signals ONLY. You have to use 7443 bulbs for the brake and front turns.

so 4 amber and 1 red will work for all turn signals and rear tail light and brake light?

Be aware that in Europe you must have white light illumination of the rear registration plate. Since there is no separate bulb the rear tail lights must be white.

North Carolina is that way too. Sometimes they catch my red tail light bulbs at inspection and sometimes they don't. If they do fail my inspection for it, I just go home and put two regular bulbs in get it inspected again and change them back to the red LED's when I get back home.

Thanks to both of you guys. The older I get the easier I am confused:confused:

Wait until you go to remove the rear direction signal sockets underneath the pillion seat...... you'll want fingertips of steel.
(once I got the hang of it using two hands it was easy... but it took me getting both lights out to get the hang of it...)

You could always get some of these, attach to your plate and wire them in to the tail light circuit.

Is this the right flasher?
That's what I used. The flasher is held in place by a rubber holder. The tab at the top kept it from fitting in the holder so I just let it sit on the other relays. I think it will fit in the holder if you trim that tab.
