The NT1100 Thread

In addition to local trips, I'm planning Lake Superior Circle Tour this summer. Maybe I'll tackle a Route 66 tour for the centennial of the Mother Road if she-who-is-to-be-obeyed will let me be gone that long.

TTFN,

Pick up the latest issue of Road Runner magazine ( Feb 26) its the Rt 66 ultimate travel guide issue

I rode Rt 66 from Ill to San Luis Obispo Cal in 2014 then up the coast on PCH stopping to stick a toe in the Pacific at Monterey Bay then on to San Fran then headed back east stopping at Pikes Peak and then Bonneville Salt Flats. 11 days 5500 miles. It was my Bucket List ride post retirement. Great trip!

Hope you get to go.

Just a toe in the ocean? Good you didn't lose the toe to a shark. :p
:rofl1: well that was my goal, as I had never seen the Pacific Ocean, but I actually got a little deeper than that ;)

I appreciate the update! I've only managed about 2,000 miles since I bought it in August. The Honda dealer *still* hasn't delivered the side cases I ordered with the bike. I've since added some eBay "Xitomer" side case brackets and "Rhinowalk" soft bags.
I also bought the whole bag & mount setup when I bought my NT1100 in early December, and still don't have them yet either.
I call my salesman once in a while about them, but the latest I have heard was that they were back-ordered and supposed to be released around 1/26/26.
I haven't been contacted yet, so I think we will be waiting a bit longer. We still have about a foot of snow on the ground here, so I am not worried yet.

I sold my 2005 ST1300 in May and had not been on ST-owners for a while, but have discovered the NT1100 thread, and once again found it a good source of info about my NT.
I read through the NT1100 thread hoping to find out what others have tried for accessories. I was looking for what others have bought for a radiator guard, but haven't seen anything about it yet.
There are quite a few listed online but they all look a lot alike, but vary a lot in price. Has anyone bought one? I worry that the cheaper ones won't fit right or fall apart.
I also thought that I would try to free up my windshield adjuster by applying a bit of grease, but because is is molded from ??? plastic, what lube is compatible with it. Anyone have a clue?
My guess was a silicone base product, but I hoped that someone might have some real knowledge about compatibility. Is it molded from DURABIO?

I would also like to get either a shock protector for below the rear stock fender, or the fender/chain guard combination.
I can't tell if the one piece fender/chain guard goes as low as the shock protector appears to go. Something that blocked the splash would cut down on the mud in that area.
One last question for whoever might know. Do the aftermarket saddlebag protector bars mount where they would provide a good grab-point for lifting onto center stand? I really liked the lift handle on the ST1300.
Something to lift with in that general area would be nice. It isn't as hard to put on the stand as the ST, but I haven't found a good place to grab onto yet.
Thanks to anyone who could shed some light on my questions.

I don't know how much access there is to the windshield adjuster, but something I did last summer on my Shad saddlebags was to drip candle wax on the parts that needed lubrication. The melted wax will flow into places you could only get to with a spray, yet dry "hard" and not pick up road debris to cause problems later.

Even if it isn't practical for your windshield adjuster, it might be suitable elsewhere.

Something I find helpful for the rear wheel spray is a Givi rear hugger. It seems like it wouldn't help, but it cuts back on the rooster tail effect. It doesn't look like Givi USA carries it for the NT1100, but maybe the European site does. This doesn't cut back on all the road spray, but I would say it cuts back on 90% of it on my bike.

It exists in Europe.

I do have the Honda panniers and top box but don’t use the panniers for day rides. Without the panniers mounted I find the pannier mount a convenient place for my right hand to lift and guide the bike up on the center stand.

Thanks to Whisperquiet and dduelin for info about lift point to put NT on center stand. It might be more obvious when I get my saddlebags. I viewed the link it and could be just what I was looking for.

When I asked about the shock protector, I may not have described it well enough. If you look at the rear shock from underneath, you will see that the fender stops at about the center of the swing-arm. There is an extension available for the area below the fender that shields the bottom of shock (see picture). My question was if the other aftermarket product, such as the one referred to by Wizel (picture on the right), could be used with or to replace the shock shield. After looking at their pictures side by side, they probably won't work together. Let me know if that is true or not. If someone has used the shock protector, I would be interested to know how well it works.
If you look at the image with the tape measure, you can see that the tape starts at the bottom of the stock fender and there is more than 5 inches of the shock area that is exposed to tire splash. The shock can probably withstand being caked with stuff from the road but will be a mess eventually. You can see from the middle picture that the shock protector provides some extra cover from road grime.
I know this is a new model for U.S. but these bikes have been around a couple of years in Europe and Canada. Let us know what you have found.
Thanks

I've made shock protectors from rubber flaps as needed on previous bikes but the 1100's stock fender extension down to below the top of the swing arm provides adequate protection for my needs. My current NC700X pictured has an aftermarket combo fender/hugger and chain guard but if I had a stock chain guard (the PO threw it away when he installed the hugger) I would remove that one and put the stock chain guard back on. All those hugger things do is move the dirty spray onto the swing arm and chain and restrict access to the area for cleaning - they aren't long enough to stop the fling off the top of the tire and in conditions of sticky mud/debris it collects crap under the hugger where it is difficult to clean. A simple flap the width of the bottom front of the fender long enough to hang below the top of the swing arm is plenty. Just my opinion.

Just wanted to post that I just received my Bagster Tank Cover for my NT1100 from France. Expensive yes when shipping and import fees added. But it is only once and the cover will protect the tank. I also have one on my FJR presently and have used them in the past for other previous bikes.

I also ordered some farkles from Europe but in the from of the Honda comfort seat that seems to not yet be available in the US.

https://www.nt1100shop.com/en/official-accessories/1-honda-rider-comfort-seat-08r75-mlf-e00za.html

While it doesn't look much different, I feel like the foam is denser in the right spots and thus makes the ride for me (5'10", 200 lbs) way more comfortable. No regrets with the extra shipping and tariffs.

BTW, 8 months and *still* waiting for the panniers.
Those are the same folks that I ordered the cover from, Took just a couple of days over two weeks to get here. What was the shipping and tariffs cost. Does it rally make 200 bucks worth of difference.

I bought my V85 new about 3 years ago. I told the salesman to tell the owner he lost a sale of a V100 because it didn't have the saddlebags for it. I didn't want to get caught up in playing the waiting game. Guzzi is notorious for long waits for factory parts. After a long wait, I've received parts in an individual bag with a manufacture date of over 5 years ago. I swear they only have 1, very old, very slow moving, guy working in the parts warehouse

Yes, it's worth it IMHO. I spent over $600 for a Corbin for my Zero, so this was a relative bargain.

I wish it was only $200. The total with shipping and tariffs was about $310. After I placed the order and they shipped it, DHL hit me with almost $80 in tariffs before they would complete the shipment. Also note that it doesn't come with the comfort pillion seat. That's a separate item. https://www.nt1100shop.com/en/offic...ort-passenger-seat-honda-08r73-mlf-e00za.html

Yes I know. Been thinking about ordering one. DHL hit me with 50 bucks tariffs and shipping was near 50 bucks for the tank cover. Total near 250 dollars. How long did it take to get the seat from them.
