I am currently researching my next bike and am strongly considering the NT110 DCT. Right now I am riding a Boulevard and while it gets me down the road it doesn't feel like the bike I really belong on. I used to have a 2011 DL650 and loved how that handled. I am looking for a bike with more of that riding position but also a better set up for touring.
If any of you have past Dl 650 experience I would love to hear how the NT 1100 compares.
I can't compare it to the DL650, but I bought one in February and my only regret is the dealer I used. Since you're in WA, that won't be a problem for you.
The DCT does take some getting used to, especially at low speeds. Once you do get used to it though, you mostly stop thinking about it. It has a lot of configurability, especially in concert with the drive modes. If you're going to be going under 10mph for an extended time, switching to Rain mode is great, because it dials back the throttle sensitivity.
As
@billo mentioned, you're looking at about 2/3 again more power, but it's smoothly delivered.
It handles well, plenty of space if you get the bags, their 1/3 again the size of the ones I had on my K1600. The windscreen is surprisingly protective when up, and adjusts a lot. The one slight niggle is the pillion. My wife finds the height a little intimidating and with all the bags on, in can be a little nerve-wracking getting until you get the hang of it. But otherwise it's comfortable.
All in all, it strikes me as what happens when you let motorcycle nerds build a bike for real world riding.
