Thanks for picking up the banner RJS .

Doesn't seem the same without Paul, just seeing the thread made me sad.

I probably won't be playing this year. I'll still be following along though to see how you guys are doing.

I rode over Ebetts, Monitor and Carson passes on Sunday with 2 others. I saw 24 degrees going over Ebetts but my friend on his BMW saw 23 degrees on his. I was not concentrating on the temperatures as there was slushy snow and sand on the road. My Gerbing jacket liner and gloves were on high most of the day as at least half of the 288 mile ride was below freezing. I usually don't ride in these temperatures but I was caught by surprise.

If I wasn't watching my 3 yo grand daughter this morning it would have been a good morning for lowering my temp on a ride. Frost on the grass and 35*F at 8 am. Expecting mid 60s this afternoon and just above 70 early next week. One more trip around the yard with the mower this season and also with the leaf sweeper and then it's time to swap the yard machines with the snow machines in the garage. Next week I'll also be putting away my wife's Metropolitan scooter for the winter but my bike will be parked on the side of the garage where it always is... ready to go out for a ride at any moment.

@Beeflips , what model of Tour Master gloves do you have? My last 2 pair of cold season gloves have been the TM Polar Tex gloves, first gen and second gen versions. But now my current second gen version are wearing out, a split in the side seam, so looking to replace them after this season or maybe sooner. Stitching would make them too tight so used E-6000 cement to hold the seam which is working OK for now. I got the heated grips working last year and also have a pair of Kemimoto handlebar muffs that work together to keep my hands toasty down to zero*F with the heat set to low.

They are MID-TEX, which is very telling if you have Polar-TEX. probably not heavy enough.
Those are what I was actually thinking of going to... since I now have the muffs and heated grips. Still just thinking on it though.
Heated grips with the Polar Tex gloves works, sort of, down to the mid 20s F but more is needed below that.
With my previous bikes I used Gerbing heated gloves any time the temps dropped below freezing but with the heated grips and the muffs I don't need to plug in my gloves any more. The muffs with heated grips are even better than heated gloves.

I ride most days but throwing my hat in on a 12 min ride if I go the long way really doesn't seem to hit the "ride" part. Most days jacket, liner, gloves liners and thats about it. Only one heated grip is currently working so thats only half way useful. Never needed extra warmth on the seat bike seems to do a fine job of that. Yesterday morning think it was 34 frosty out. looks cold!

I and a group of 5 rode over Trail Ridge Road last Saturday Oct 22, one day before it closed for the season. 37* on the top with a 40 mph side wind.

I'm gonna throw 12V onto the corbin seat tomorrow [through a fuse] figure out what it draws, I hated it when I got it... at first... but found that it wasn't all bad through the first year I had; just took a little getting used to.
Heat requires power; I never really got it until I replaced a 90,000 [gas] btu water heater with electric; 575 drawing 30 amp fell only short of equivalent of gas in; [if I recall,] but in western canada, we don't get a break on electricity; it was more expensive to run.

Got out in the coldish today, 200 miles through the Delaware Valley to the Hudson River Basin, 1100' of elevation change and lots of lovely leaves below 800'.

Heated grips on 80%, Vest (should have worn the jacket), Heated seat. Newly installed OEM mirror deflectors and the Bike-quip screen set on the higher bolts. Shake it out a few more times to see if I love or just like it.

37 was our low today.
