Are you not riding because of the risks or what? Haven't heard from you in awhile. How are things going? Is that addition to your house completed?

I found myself unhooked or having forgotten to buckle up the top one or two on my Turtle from time to time, so I got into a count routine that was something like the lanyard one, the four buckles, and five was personal adjustment. Later I moved to the Helite mesh jacket that I really prefer over the vest.
FWIW, I extend the range of temps with a heated shirt, wind-blocker jacket and a gortex rain shell. Pretty much below 40s up to whatever the central valley or NV desert can dish out in August. I will say that the zipper (unless they finally wised up) seemed less than robust, and mine failed at the bottom, but the US distributor replaced it with a very robust YKK and paid for all shipping charges. Thankfully I can't comment on its performance, but the company stands behind their product.
 
Glad you are here to make me think about a vest UP. The miles I ride and the deer that I see never mind the ones that we don't see is starting to make me think. The ATGATT list just seems to be growing at an exponential rate over the last 55 years. Was a time when a leather, a helmet, and boots was a lot. Now it's 20 minutes getting dressed for a 15 minute ride to the store. Not knocking safety or airbags just trying to wrap my head around another piece of kit to put on.

I just have mine by the door on a hanger.
Of all the safety gear, it is the easiest to put on! ;)
Especially when I remember how painful those two sets of broken ribs were ....

Yes you can get riding jackets that have an air bag built in and air bags that go on the inside of the jacket.
I chose a separate external version because I have several riding jackets and tend to rotate their use to spread out the wear.
The other reason is it is difficult for me to find a riding jacket large enough to fit me comfortably.
Trying to put an air-vest inside is not practically possible. ;)
 
I'm due for a new coat, but yeah a vest that goes over top makes sense, as it would work in Summer and Winter. Other thing I need is a good rain suit . Coming home from my Visit to my Daughter's in Edmonton, me got pretty wet and cold. Thanks UP for the info. G
