Reprint from Antelope Valley Press, May 11, 2009:
"A 49 year-old Victorville man suffered fatal injuries Saturday night after he was thrown off his motorcycle during a traffic collision with a pickup truck on Pearblossom Highway, sheriff's officials said.
The man, identified as William Galarneau, was transported via ambulance, but was pronounced dead while en route to Antelope Valley Hospital, authorities said.
The collision occurred about 9:30 p.m. on Pearblossom Highway between 52nd and 53rd streets east, when 50 year-old Irene Anguiano, of Palmdale, pulled over onto the southern shoulder of the roadway and initiated a U-turn directly in front of the path of the motorcycle.
Deputies said the vehicles collided broadside in the eastbound No. 1 lane.
Galarneau was traveling eastbound behind Anguiano's 1995 Ford pickup truck, officials said.
After being thrown from his 2007 Honda motorcycle, Galarneau came to rest on the northern shoulder of Pearblossom Highway.
Anguiano and her three occupants did not suffer any injuries.
Pearblossom Highway was closed down between 50th street East and Avenue T for approximately five hours, officials said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Traffic Detail of the Palmdale Sherriff's Station."
It doesn't ease the pain, Bill was a very good technical rider. We all know, unfortunately, how difficult it is to avoid the actions of others.
Hope this helps us understand.
I have been at a loss of words since Saturday night. I have worked closely with Bill for close to 20 years, man did I love working with him.
One year ago I got back into riding. Bill turned me onto this site and raved about the wonderful people he had met. I followed Bill's advice and purchased a 2005 ST1300 from a guy on this site. I loved to ride and talk stories with Bill.
April 23rd, 2009 I was involved in a motorcycle accident that totaled my bike. Thanks to Bill continually harping on safety and wearing all the gear possible, I walked away with only a broken collarbone. Bill was the first to call and the first person I met back at work. He gave me a big hug that let me know everything will be alright.
May 9th, 2009 I waved as Bill rode away for the last time.
I loved Bill and will always miss him.
I feel as though another member in my family has passed.
Like ACL, Bill will be in my thoughts.
