Good morning everyone

There's fresh hot Cafe Verona in the pot today, and plenty to go around so don't stint yourselves. We want fully-caffeinated non-homicidal curmudgeons today.

It's 43°F and clear in Rockville. The high should reach about 70 under clear, sunny skies.

Yesterday's cat search took us in unexpected (to me, at least) directions, when Mrs. Fun was introduced to a trio of high-energy five month old kittens at the Humane Society shelter. That's younger than I thought she was going for, but one of them in particular pretty well won her heart. He's a bit of a scamp, but melted into a puddle of loudly-purring cat goo when placed in our laps. He's definitely okay with being picked up and held, where the two girl kittens were a bit more hesitant.

The male (shelter name "Swiss" as in the cheese) is gray- much the same as Mulan was- as is "Brie", one of the females. Unfortunately, when they were placed in a confining enclosure on the floor, Brie really wanted nothing to do with Swiss when he approached her. That's a disappointment because a matched pair would have been perfect. It's possible that with time she'd come to at least tolerate him, in much the same way that Mulan mostly tolerated Lancelot, but it's not an ideal way to start a relationship.

"Rotini", the other kitten, is a gray tabby and got on fine with Swiss, engaging in play and light roughhousing, giving as good as she got, but she doesn't appear to be a lap kitten nor one who's enthusiastic about being handled and held.

Meanwhile, back at the County shelter, we met a number of possible candidates but none appealed so strongly that we were certain they'd come home with us. There was one younger male- about a nine or ten month old- who might well be a buddy for Swiss but Mrs. Fun isn't enthusiastic about two active, vaguely rambunctious cats in the house. Another, a three year old fellow, was as placid and easy-going as they come. Perhaps Leo will come home to our house? At 14+ pounds, he's a big boy. Or Melody, a younger, much smaller female?

Time will tell.

After all that cat shopping, I met up with friends / former colleagues for dinner. It's always nice to see them.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Thx Keith!
Hope your catscanning will bring joy to the house of fun!

10˚c/50f, showers, 20 mph wind from south.

Today I plan to walk to get some groceries, it takes about an hour.

Heavy rain is expected later, so there will be no outdoor chores today.

Have a good one!
Stu

Good morning, all. Thanks for the cup, Keith.

53/69….another beautiful fall day, chocked full of sun and chilling breezes. Yesterday was spent messing around with the camper, trying to organize the lack of storage. Every time I think of something else that I want to carry, I have to decide what to leave behind, due to space. I believe my sidecar rig has more storage space than this camper.

@STooRay Love the picture.

@ibike2havefun Good luck with your kitty selection.

John

No no no no. It's too early for Tuesday... or for any day.
Oh well, the Verona will help, so thanks Keith.
My wife is the crazy cat lady, with 3, all 2 years apart. But Kaiser is the crazy cat German Shepherd... even though they continually refuse to play with him or pretty much even be near him, he still reaches out to them with a big happy goofy grin on his face, and they rebuff him again and again.
And here I thought *I* was an optimist.
In the end, the only thing wrong with a kitten is that... it will always grow up to be a cat.
Now all ours have an entitlement attitude. Roz has raised a bunch of socialists.
It's definitely getting colder, too. From 90° 2 days ago to 48 yesterday morning. I lied and told you it was 52 or whatever, but the radio lied to me first.
Heated grips and seat, couple more layers, and it was ok. Soon it will be time for the heated jacket and gloves, and all the rest that goes with it.
Including more time just to get dressed to leave the house.
SIGH.
And such is the changing of the seasons, right?
Two houses on another street over, have their Christmas decorations on their house and in the yard.
So it's come to this, has it?
Well, then.
Mail your packages early so the post office can lose them in time for Christmas.

Morning all, and thanks Kieth for the Verona.

The crazy cat house of Fun has a ring to it.....

13C for the drive into work in the dark and the rain. It's only supposed to get lighter today with the temps and rain remaining the same.

Lots to do and never enough time.

Make the most of it, and enjoy!

Obo.

That's cats. Entitled as hell and no apologies for it.

Yoh, late to the party...

8°/18°C, mostly overcast today, no rain predicted... ST it is...
Within not even two weeks the foliage has changed colors... the air starts to smell wintry...

home and office caffeinated... :coffee:

Not so good news from the supermax reha:
GF has sore throat, cough and >39°C/102°F fever... laboratory test: COVID positive... pfffff... :(
Hence bed-rest, no exercises (thus no progress on recovery/re-mobilization)...
But what to expect from a hospital, sick people wherever you look...

And clients are annoying; original tender dated Sept 25th, but they email it this morning "... we need the offer TODAY!..."
An entire apartment complex... yeah... right...
Fortunately only 11 tops, but still needed to plot out the blueprints to measure realistic piping runs for each...

anyhoo, the next email inquiry dinged in...

That week already takes forever... :o-o:

cheers!

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee, Keith.
Good luck on the cat search. The three kittens sound like a lot of fun, but I'll admit that we've only adopted two at a time. They had to get along with our older cat, though... I know that any or all of them would thrive in your home, though.

It's 46 and clear in MA this morning, rising to 63 under sunny skies.

Yesterday wasn't sunny, though.
It was pouring when I got to the track, and they postponed the start from 0900 to 1045. Cars got to try out the wet track, and a few failed.
just at the track was drying up in the afternoon, we got another downpour. We ended on a dry note, though.

On the way home, I stopped by the friend's defunct restaurant to feed the fish in the tank in the lobby. He hadn't thought of that, although I texted him about them and the plants last week. I'll probably be back, today

Today, I'm off to the track again, for "The Club". 1000 start and 1600 end, with lunch served.
I'll try to finish or continue some of the active projects, while Brenda goes bowling, tonight.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Morning all and Thanks for the Verona Keith

Shoulder surgery yesterday so trying to balance computer with knee and type lefty. You can be the judge of how it works.

Put bikes away for the year over the weekend, strange to do because I normally ride year round. Also did everything I could think of to sort house for winter. Six weeks in a sling with 0 movement then 3-4 months PT. I hope I don't lose my mind with the inactivity. Dr asked my wife if she could slow me down a little, her reply was good luck with that! On a good note the psycho rescue Doberman that I got a month ago is being a super nurse dog. Funny how some of them pick up on things.

Have a great day everyone and remember to be safe out there.

We'll never have three cats at once; the kittens were fun but it'd be a question of which, if either, of the females was a better (temperament and behavioral) match for Swiss while at the same time ticking Mrs. Fun's "must have" boxes. If there were a way to combine selected traits of the two into a single animal we'd be done, but alas that's not possible.

Shoulder surgery yesterday

Good luck on the rehab!

Good morning, all, and thanks for the caffeinated goodness, Keith!

It's still dreary and drizzly this morning, but that should gradually clear until conditions become mostly sunny later this afternoon. It won't be a warm day, however; the current temp is 9°C/48°F, and the high for the day will be 14°C/57°F with a slight windchill making it feel a tad cooler in both cases. I'll be venturing out shortly to get my annual flu and COVID shots.

Keith, I hope you can bring your fur baby (or babies?) to their forever home soon!
Martin, sorry to hear the GF has been temporarily felled by the dreaded bug. Hope she recovers quickly.
Donk, good luck with the recovery and rehab; may the healing be quick and complete.

Everybody have a great day, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Morning Keith & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 44F, up from 30F and heading for 69F. Looks like rain/thunderstorms brewing for tomorrow. No breeze yet, but later the winds will be out of the NW @ 7 to 12mph.

Martin, I'm so sorry to hear about ze GF's current issue. I hope she gets over it soon! :(
@Donk , wow, that does not sound like any fun what's so ever! Hope you're able to stay on schedule for recovery!
Cats? watching them on You-Tube is about as close as I can get to them, since I'm allergic to them. o_O

With the predicted storms for tomorrow afternoon, that means I need to get the trailer ready by tomorrow noon. I've decided to go ahead and take my :bl13:. Which means I'll need to see how "portable" the walls are on my tent part. I don't think it will be that bad and I can strap them up against the walls of the trailer during transport. I'll be playing with that today, along with cleaning the :bl13:, from my WeSTOC return trip, riding though all of that rain.

My son & wife return tomorrow from their Italy trip. Then Chris gets to fly down to Las Vegas on Thursday. At which time, I'll be going through Las Vegas on Thursday, but I won't be seeing her, since she will be with her Quilt group, heading up to ST George, Utah. I'm good with that, otherwise, I'd be driving down to Las Vegas, picking her up, driving back to Cedar City, dropping her off and then trying to make the 500 miles to my hotel for the night in Santa Paula, CA. (Chris has no desire to go to my Class Reunion) :sneaky:

Eggs, bacon, toast & OJ for the morning start. Pepsi(s) will be had later!

Anyone :dr13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Good Morning, Thanks Keith for coffee, busy morning, open Gate, make and eat breakfast , give meds to Precious, then feed Star and Precious, take garbage to street, read new threads here, have second cup of coffee, and type here. Have one more task today, order a new battery for the Airport tractor, Betty needed a jumper battery to start a couple of days ago. Cloudy 10 C with a high of 15 C by 3 pm Sun breaking through in the afternoon. Might be able to get a ride in this afternoon. Yesterday finally replaced the defective GFI outlet that controls all the outside outlets, with a new one, curses new one was defective as well, so luckily had a couple of used ones in the toy shed, anyway, working now. Proof thatNEW may not be better.
Y'all's have a good day, and Praying for ze GF to get over COVID quick. G

Yesterday finally replaced the defective GFI outlet that controls all the outside outlets,
I stopped using those things in outdoor boxes years ago because everyone that I ever installed would always trip for no reason. I never see this problem with GFI outlets used indoors. I have been told that this problem has been fixed with newer designs but I haven't bought one in years. A better solution is a GFI circuit breaker in the panel but of course that is a lot more expensive.

Going with the GFI circuit breaker when the used one dies, the outlet is a half a foot off the floor, pain in the back and knees. Oh yeah outside in the wind and cold and rain.
