Good morning everyone
There's fresh hot Cafe Verona in the pot today, and plenty to go around so don't stint yourselves. We want fully-caffeinated non-homicidal curmudgeons today.
It's 43°F and clear in Rockville. The high should reach about 70 under clear, sunny skies.
Yesterday's cat search took us in unexpected (to me, at least) directions, when Mrs. Fun was introduced to a trio of high-energy five month old kittens at the Humane Society shelter. That's younger than I thought she was going for, but one of them in particular pretty well won her heart. He's a bit of a scamp, but melted into a puddle of loudly-purring cat goo when placed in our laps. He's definitely okay with being picked up and held, where the two girl kittens were a bit more hesitant.
The male (shelter name "Swiss" as in the cheese) is gray- much the same as Mulan was- as is "Brie", one of the females. Unfortunately, when they were placed in a confining enclosure on the floor, Brie really wanted nothing to do with Swiss when he approached her. That's a disappointment because a matched pair would have been perfect. It's possible that with time she'd come to at least tolerate him, in much the same way that Mulan mostly tolerated Lancelot, but it's not an ideal way to start a relationship.
"Rotini", the other kitten, is a gray tabby and got on fine with Swiss, engaging in play and light roughhousing, giving as good as she got, but she doesn't appear to be a lap kitten nor one who's enthusiastic about being handled and held.
Meanwhile, back at the County shelter, we met a number of possible candidates but none appealed so strongly that we were certain they'd come home with us. There was one younger male- about a nine or ten month old- who might well be a buddy for Swiss but Mrs. Fun isn't enthusiastic about two active, vaguely rambunctious cats in the house. Another, a three year old fellow, was as placid and easy-going as they come. Perhaps Leo will come home to our house? At 14+ pounds, he's a big boy. Or Melody, a younger, much smaller female?
Time will tell.
After all that cat shopping, I met up with friends / former colleagues for dinner. It's always nice to see them.
Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

. Which means I'll need to see how "portable" the walls are on my tent part. I don't think it will be that bad and I can strap them up against the walls of the trailer during transport. I'll be playing with that today, along with cleaning the
