I am looking to replace the rear shock in my 1993 ST 1100.
Thought I would try before buying new

Ps I amopen to suggestions for sourcing a new aftermarket replacement

Unless you stumble on someone who crashed their bike, buying used is going to be iffy, at best. There was a recent discussion about used shocks, I think.

I've got 4 Works Pro Racer shocks for the ST1100.
One of the four has low mileage on it but I don't know which one it is ... ;)
I'd sell the whole batch for $250 plus shipping but the shipping would probably be as much as the shocks.

Now you got me curious.
What do you use now?

@mr.m
I would go for uncle Phil’s deal. Sounds like it is highly likely there is a fine shock in the batch.
And even if not so, after the added cost of a rebuild you’d you have a great shock that’s essentially new vs an ok shock, I am thinking Progressive that I had.
It was somewhat better than stock.

After an unpleasant rebuild experience with the daughter who took over Works (changed it to WORX) I swapped to Wilbers.
They worked great on my ST1100s but when rebuilding them got to be an issue, I moved on.
AFAIK, the company is out of business but I think there is a feller that bought all the parts stuff and still refurbs them.
I just don't have his information or I would post it.
**I just checked my records - one of the shocks has less than 2,000 miles on it and less than 1 year of use.
I put it on BlueBelle then swapped it out for a Wilbers unit when I did the rest of them.
But again I don't know which one. **

You will definitely improve the ride and handling with aftermarket shocks, like the Wilbers, or what I’m currently using, a Hagon with remote. They are expensive but the grins when riding after the change are a testament to have done the right thing!

Thank's to you all
After talking to the folks Wilbers I have learned they can lower the height of the rear by as much as 1 1/4 inches
I am thinking of dropping it 13/16 one of the choices offered.
This will more than likely require more effort to corner
Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.
Some Years ago I cut the length 5/8 "off of the rear mono-shock of my 85 V65 Sabre.
The bike dropped well over an inch in the rear.

How vertically challenged are you?
Changing the geometry, rake and trail of this bike, in my humble opinion is sketchy. When this bike is dialled in, it’s a treat to ride.
Lowering the bike compromises the side stand, makes it more difficult to put it on the centre stand., you will be more prone to dropping it if you have to struggle putting it on the centre stand, and more likely to fall over because there isn’t enough lean on the side stand.
Having the proper rear shock actually makes it easier to get the bike on the centre stand..

Nice!!! How much did you take off the Kick stand?

What did you pay for the Hagon ?

A Wilbures Is $ 825 The will adjust to my weight and riding prefference,.

I bought the hagon here on the forum, used, for, I think, $ 250 and that included shipping. It looked like new, very clean. At first it was terrible then I cranked up the preload and it has been great since. (I expect the previous owner installed the shock and did not adjust the preload, hated it, and sold it here. I emailed Hagon and they gave me a 3 page reply that ended with 'add preload'.

I bought a 2nd kickstand and cut it and welded the foot back on, I don't remember how much i cut it, but you would have to test that on yours. Some people just heat and bend the kickstand. One of my friends also cut his center stand but I just drive mine up on a 2x6 when I need to use the center stand.

I did slide the tubes up in the triple tree about a half inch which is all I could do on the 1300 as the heli bars block going further. On the 1100 you can go further but I'd stay with about a 1/2" and that should be fine.
