A nice day for a ride around Santa Barbara County before the next rain. Cachuma lake is the first picture, nice to see it full after the long drought. Hwy 246 in Santa Ynez for the flowers, and Jalama beach for the others. Road about 150 miles today with a high of 70.

I was jealous of 970Mikes above photo's so I went to the Florida mountains to recreate those shots. Once I got to the top of the highest mountain in Fl. it just wasn't the same.
And of course yesterday I rode by going east where the flowers have been planted along side the big road and are blooming pretty good. I even marked it my GPS for a return picture. I only missed the turn by 5.8 miles per the gps so no flower photos yet.
Check out that front tire! 50,352 miles and still looks like it has 20,000 left in it.

The first day of spring and the weather was wonderful. Went for a little bit longer ride this time. 104+ miles. Almost got a picture of an eagle sitting on a tree branch hanging over the river running along side one road but by the time I stopped and pulled out the phone the eagle flew off so missed that one. Started with a full tank and stopped for gas at the end of the ride and calculated 52+ mpg. Rode a mix of roads from a few 20 mph small town streets to the 70+ mph Interstate (only 1.5 miles of that). Otherwise almost all 55 mph roads with a little bit of 65 mph road. Was good to get out after 2 weeks of the bike being parked. I did remove the handlebar muffs for this ride since temps started out at 53F and ended up around 56F.

ALABAMA!!!! I rode up to the north then back to the west and then south. Went by some big bridges and boats at the Mobile Bay area. 88' up into BAMA and quickly down to 72' crossing the 6 mile long bridge across the bay.
Well, it was actually yesterday, but I finally managed to make feeling like it coincide with good weather.
My first ride of the year was about 45 miles, after the first start of the year, and lasted about two hours.

The rest of this week is getting full. Dr appointment tomorrow. Daycare for our granddaughter Thursday and Friday. Rain and maybe a trace of snow those days and Saturday. Maybe that last forecast is just an April Fools joke. Hope so.
Last week my wife told me to go for a ride... so I did.
This week my wife told me she was hungry for some Dutch Letters from Jaarsma Bakery in Pella, IA. So I rode my bike there today. Took the back roads and rode 168+ miles today. There were several sections of tighter S curves and even some with an additional 3rd curve right after but I was having too much fun running through those to stop for any photos. But I did take a few at my Danish bakery stop. I took several new to me roads both going and coming.

I did some riding and went by this natural spring area that seems to be my favorite spring swim float spot. Morrison springs in a great spot just 7 road miles south of the Ponce de Leon tourist trap spring.
100% clear as bath water flows out of the ground at the rate of 45 to 70 million gallons a day. They scuba dive there down to 90' deep.

Dislocated my left shoulder last month; had to do the whole P/T thing, was told no bike for 6 weeks... Then they cut it down to 6 weeks...
But hell, I rebuilt a stand for an aquarium out in my shop and there were no issues a couple days ago.
So during a break in the weather I took her out for a spin. I mean, the new to me magnetic tank bag had to be tested out, right?
All low speed stuff around the park we live in, We all know what the 1300 handles like at speeds below 30mph...
Mot even a twinge. Next Saturday I'm gonna take her out and wring it out a bit...
But hell, I rebuilt a stand for an aquarium out in my shop and there were no issues a couple days ago.

7 km[?] shy of Alouette Lake, a cool ride; temp dropped from 10C to 5C only three or four km up the road, back to 9C on the way out.

I rode to the levee, but the levee was dry. Lake Roosevelt in the Spring.

There are small amounts of gators everywhere even in the clear spring water. But not many up here in the north. I've only seen 2 in 6 years anywhere West of Tallahassee They issue around 100 hunting permits in my county ever year so yup. Gators. 12 footers are around here.
