I took the ST on it's first decent romp down the Ida road. It's only about 50 miles, round trip, but it's a curvy and not well traveled road. It's perfect for a "get acquainted' ride. I rode to Whitewright to get some pictures downtown. It was fun and I got done before it got too hot.

I am just off main street and I was menaced by two cars and a jogger. A year from now it will all be gone, replaced by a strip mall, a Starbucks, several trendy dress shops and a mountain of new apartments and homes that start at $400,000. Dallas is working its way North at terrifying speed.

You haven't house shopped in North Dallas lately. My nephew had a house built in the Frisco area starting in 2019. Before it was all done in 2022 his $375,000 cost home was worth $750,000 and he had fight the builder to keep his own home!

Went nowhere on the bike today, it was 30-odd Degrees and burning sun yesterday and today just scratching around 10 and rain
Rode yesterday to Utting and spent the day in the lake, only getting out when the clouds looked like all hell was going to break lose. Nothing happened, the clouds retreated back into the mountains and we were treated to a lovely sundown so I rode to a little hill west of Dießen and enjoyed the view.

Had a member come up from the STlouis mo area to have lunch with me. Met him at the service station and we rode to eat. He came 100 miles to see me. Well yeah he was going further north on a big trip. I only rode about a total of 5 miles with him but did immensely enjoy out short ride and lunch.

210 mile ride today. Harley challenge. Oldest Wisconsin store. Some sculpture next to store. And finally adult beverages at home. Priceless!!!

Took the V-Strom out for an early morning ride along the South Platte river and then up to check out and see if the Buck Snort Saloon was open yet.

We did an overnight trip around southern Ontario on Sunday-Monday. Just over 1000 km over the two days and we had great weather, great roads and beautiful scenery. On our return trip we came through Algonquin Park. The blue route was eastbound, while the purple road was westbound through the park. It was the first time in my 69 years that I have ever been to this beautiful part of our Province. I've lived in Northwestern Ontario, so I'm used to large expanses of nothing but forest and lakes. The photos were taken in Whitney at the last fuel stop before entering the park.

I rode almost that exact purple route on my CB750 Honda back in 1976. It was spectacular back then. I stopped in Toronto to look at the almost completed CN Tower.

I hemmed and hawed and finally got a leg swung over the bike this morning. Looked at the sky and it was menacing in the direction I had planned to go.

Headed to Harper, TX instead, through Doss, Hilda, and on up to Mason. I kicked around Mason for awhile. Nice little town. Headed back home the same way I came.

Only put 170 miles on the bike. Seemed longer on all the twisty hilly roads. Ran into a bunch of the rain I thought I was going to miss. The Bridgestone T32's did their job.

I always stop in Hilda, which is a non-town, and take a break down a narrow lane at an old Methodist church.

I rode up to a huge Marble mine pit in Sylacauga ALABAMA!! Lots of fine marble has came out the pit dating clear back to 1814. Here's a clip from wiki:

"Sylacauga marble is fine-grained and nearly pure calcite, making it extremely similar to white Carrara marble.[1] Sylacauga marble was used for Gutzon Borglum's bust of Abraham Lincoln in the United States Capitol rotunda. He commented that the stone's fine texture let him portray the expression of kindness on Lincoln's face, something he had never been able to do with other stones.[5]

It has been used extensively for architectural projects. I'm lazy. Getting more so as I get older. But when I finally work up the strength to get my tush out of my computer chair and plant it on the bike saddle I do really enjoy the ride.

Been craving some sweet pastries lately also so I checked the tire psi and took off to Pella, IA to my favorite Dutch pastry shop... Jaarsma Bakery... for a coffee cake and a half dozen Dutch Letters. It was looking very foggy in the direction I was headed at first but then that all cleared out and it was mostly sunny the rest of the way there and back. Temps were from 74F to 79F during the ride. Rode 122 miles today.


Need another ride like this and then after WISTOC I'll be ready to do the oil and filter change before ArkanSTOC.
