It’s more about the brine and salt they put out if it snows. Then we have to wait for a couple good rains before we venture out again.

Nah, just fill a sprayer with warm/hot water to clean it off after the ride and then wipe or spray on ACF-50 liberally for corrosion protection.

Wax your bike with grey poupon and the salt won't touch it!!......my wife coats herself with it before bed every night and I don't touch her...... :biggrin:Russ.

Another trip today up to my son's house to help put up lights. Reminded me why I don't do that any more.
Was a 45 mile ride with temps around 52F going and 49 coming back. STILL wearing my summer gloves but the handlebar muffs keeps the hands plenty warm.
 
I rode 1.2 miles from my house to the lake to get a picture at sunrise.

Then I rode back towards home,

but got distracted by the fall colors at their peak and missed my driveway!

I compounded that mistake by missing the next three dozen turns that might've led me back home.
I finally got back over two hours and 60 miles later. With two new submissions for the riding "tag game" threads.

I bought handlebar muffs / handlebar grip mitts for my Honda Shadow. I used them last winter on that bike, liked them a lot on cold days. I still have them, but I have not yet transferred them over to the ST 1300.
 
Just done my last drive for 2025, salt was pickled last night. I went for my annual Christmas tree pictures in Bridgewater Nova Scotia which is 3 km from home.. Great year for driving, our best trips was to Newfoundland, only 6hr ferry ride.. going back next year this time 3 weeks not 2. Oil changed sleeping til March 2026

Another 45 miles today riding up to be there when my 2 granddaughters stepped/rolled off the busses. REALLY overcast today. Even a little drizzle for the first few miles. Temps hovered around 42-43 F going up and 41-42 F coming home. Thinking it might be time to zip-in the thermal liner in my riding pants. My hands were almost too warm... approaching hot... in the Kemimoto muffs with my mid-range gloves.
 
Well... 'Tis the season.
5-7 inches of the frozen white stuff expected this weekend with overnight temps possibly as low as zero F.
The back door at my son's house has the weather seal ripped up and torn off due to their 3 dogs tearing it up for the bottom 2 feet. I bought some upgraded weather strips that mount on the inside that the dogs can't reach from outside (since that is where they tear it up). It arrived tonight so I plan to ride up there tomorrow or Thursday to install it. The coldest temps come during and after the weekend. We will be having Thanksgiving dinner on Friday so that will hopefully work out. Still expect temps during the day to be close to freezing. Last ride for a while after that.

No riding for a while.
Had the big snow... only about 8 inches or so.
Plows were out right away to clear the roads. BUT, and this is the important part, because there was a good chance of rain starting this storm turning to snow there was no brine or salt put down. So nothing to melt snow on the roads first and it shows. The plows go down the street in front of my house a few times a day at least and there is still a crust of frozen stuff covering the street... even 3 days after the event. Usually the streets are dry by now and the melting snow has washed off most if not all the treatment.

My driveway is not much better since it is north facing (makes a big difference) so the sun doesn't do much to help there. The driveways across the street that are south facing are mostly clear and dry.
 
20 miles to an acquaintance's house-- a good friend of the guy that sold me my ST 1300, also he has owned two ST- 1300s for years. He looked at the brakes on my bike then I rode a different route home about 25 miles. Mostly back roads good scenery lots of curves but nothing crazy-- 35 MPH rated curves.
 
I have never posted in the where did I ride today. I keep forgetting 🤔. November 23 took a ride with a buddy, a BMW rider. We live in California. There’s a really good ride from TRACY heading out Corral Hollow rd. past the off-road vehicle park (Carnage) and follow that to Livermore and turn left on Mines Road. People that live around here probably know the road? once you get on mines I don’t think there is a stretch of straight road for over 200 yards. Lots of curves. Had lunch at the junction of Mines and Del Porto Canyon Road and then continued on into Patterson and back to TRACY. It was a good ride.
