Where did you ride today?

Braved the 50F weather, brrr, and went to the DPS license office to try to get my Texas license. Of course I was woefully unprepared and rode away to return another day. It was actually not a bad trip as those office visits go since the greeter really knew her stuff and of course I wasn't the first ever unprepared customer. I was naive to believe MAYBE I didn't need my birth certificate--which is in storage from the move. So there you go. Yeah, you do need it, as everyone but me knows. But, wow, I do love riding in the colder weather. Have to say, I'm a bit surprised by the amount of wind I get from behind the larger wind screen. I added an extender which brought the wind over my helmet, an improvement, but the arms/shoulder catch a fair amount of air, which i did not expect. I should have, it's clearly not a wide screen like I got used to on my C10 Connie and GL1500. Still, the ST is just such a fantastic bike I look for reasons to ride it..HER, actually, Stella. Yeah, we do that in our family.
 
I don't know if I'll be riding in temps as low as I usually do during this cold season. +14F is entirely doable in comfort but below that my old circulation is beginning to show making it a bit cool to be attempting zero F any more.
Maybe once just to see if I can do it on a naked bike if the roads and weather are clear and dry.
 
Not today, but yesterday I rode the newly reopened "Snake" that has been closed for 7+ years! It's the unofficial name for the section of Mulholland Road between Kanan Road and the famous Rock Store. It was closed after the Wolsey Fire, reopened briefly (at least I was able to ride it) then closed again when part of the road was damaged due rains and earth movement from the lack of vegetation that was burned away.
I think this past weekend was the first weekend it was open but I decided to wait until Monday figuring it'd be a zoo on the weekend.

I have occasionally wondered why the YouTube Snake videos dried up a while ago. There used to be many first-person videos, some mature, many not, but all pretty amazing for the road. Now I understand.
 
Took a short ride into mountains after recovering motorcycle after an accident, to check out some waterfalls. Felt great to be riding again after a 2.5-month break. On the way home ST accidentlaly started to blew main fuse, solved this by disconnecting all addons. Looks like the bike and I have another garage day ahead of us… again.

Sounds like you plugged into the factory wires for power to your add-ons? That is exactly why I learned to use an isolated fuse block for all my farkles. To prevent anything I added from affecting any factory wiring or fuse I do not ever get power for any farkle from any factory wire or fuse. Learned that with my Gold Wing back in 2003.

Yes, that’s right. I had all the add-ons connected to the wire coming out of the starter relay. Now I’m thinking about adding a new fuse box along with upgrading the alternator. I think removing the rectifier will free up some space for a small fuse box.
 
Three of us did a ride in northeastern Oklahoma today. It was 60+ degrees by late afternoon, but the damn north wind was blowing about 30mph and gusting all day. It made it feel chilly. We got in 220 miles. I didn't take a single pic this time, which is very unusual for me. If the other guys post up a pic, I'll grab it.
