I suspected it would really only be the same as the 360mm size ones, which after measuring it, it is. They China-version ones have to be coming from a single source over there and sold by a number of different Ebay vendors with their own descriptions. At first look, it appears to be decent quality. Any recommendations or photos on what the best setup positions have been for those that are using a similar one?
I do have a stock windshield. I’m sorry I haven’t had an opportunity to test ride it much yet to have a good review. Between the heat, thunderstorms, and July being red snapper fishing/spearfishing season in the Gulf, the bike has been sitting more than I like.
The overall height of the deflector is 5" (in the middle). While I'm still playing with it, the position that puts the deflector over the top of the stock windshield about 3" seems about right. I can just see over it. I'm 5'8" I wear a full face helmet, with a full visor. I prefer to wear the visor about 3/4 open. In this position, I'm not looking through the visor or the deflector. Without the deflector, the turbulence was such that the visor would not stay open. With the deflector, the visor doesn't move.
Thanks for this video. It seems you concluded that the lip does not provide any advantage to you over tweaking your windshield to the perfect height. My faux laminar lip is identical. I recently sold my 6th Goldwing, (a 2005) and consider those the gold standard when it comes to wind/weather protection. Those Wings have a manual vertical adjustment of about 4" and I ran that windshield at its nearly lowest position 90% of the time. This allowed me to see just over the top of the windshield. But make no mistake, it still does not rival the quiet and comfort of being in a car. I purchased my 2001 st1100 3 yrs ago for a variety of reasons and had the opportunity to ride both bikes during that period. I knew I'd be giving up some creature comforts, including the protection that big ol' fairing provided. But the lip does a very good job of extending my too-low-for-me stock st1100 windshield. I am somewhat surprised at the number of folks who install these lips on the st1300 with its power windscreen.
Mine came fully assembled!I ordered one of the Chinese models. Gonna take me all summer to figure out how to assemble it. LOL!!! No instructions, just a bag of parts.
Any help on how to put this together is greatly appreciated.
